VRChat is looking for a creative 2D Designer to produce visual content for its social virtual reality platform. This part-time contract opportunity involves designing everything from digital storefront graphics and promotional campaigns to interface assets and artwork used inside virtual environments.

You'll help bring consistency, personality and visual clarity to different parts of the VRChat experience, creating designs that work across desktop, mobile, social media and immersive 3D worlds.

The role is particularly suited to a versatile visual designer who enjoys switching between different formats, understands how to work within established brand guidelines and can produce polished creative assets under changing deadlines.

What You'll Be Designing

Digital Storefront Graphics

You'll create visual assets that help users discover and explore products within the VRChat store.

Your work will include:

  • Designing thumbnails for individual store listings.
  • Creating promotional graphics for collections and product bundles.
  • Developing distinctive visual themes for different bundles.
  • Producing background artwork and navigation icons.
  • Adapting storefront graphics for mobile devices and smaller screen sizes.

A key part of the work is making sure designs remain visually appealing and easy to understand, even when displayed as small thumbnails or icons.

Marketing and Promotional Content

You'll support VRChat's marketing activities by producing graphics for campaigns, announcements and digital platforms.

Projects may include:

  • Social media graphics and promotional announcements.
  • Featured images for articles and blog posts.
  • Title cards, overlays and closing screens for video content.
  • Promotional assets for Steam, Meta and other distribution platforms.
  • Multiple versions of creative assets adapted to specific platform dimensions.

In-App Visual Design

You'll also contribute graphics that appear directly within the VRChat application.

This includes event banners, promotional artwork and notification graphics that complement the surrounding interface.

You'll need to consider readability, scale and visual hierarchy so that your designs communicate effectively without disrupting the user experience.

Artwork for Virtual Worlds

Some of your designs will appear inside VRChat's user-created virtual environments.

You may work on:

  • Digital signage and posters.
  • Environmental graphics.
  • 2D textures and decorative artwork.
  • Other visual elements used within immersive spaces.

What VRChat Is Looking For

VRChat is seeking a designer with strong visual execution skills, a varied portfolio and the ability to adapt creative work to different formats.

Key qualifications:

  • A portfolio demonstrating a broad range of 2D design work.
  • Experience creating marketing graphics, digital storefront assets or interface visuals.
  • Strong skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma or similar design software.
  • Understanding of composition, typography, visual hierarchy and brand consistency.
  • Ability to design graphics that remain effective at small sizes.
  • Experience preparing and exporting artwork according to platform specifications.
  • Confidence working within existing visual guidelines while introducing creative ideas.
  • Strong organizational skills, including maintaining clearly named and structured source files.
  • Clear communication and the ability to respond constructively to feedback.
  • Flexibility when managing changing priorities and quick production cycles.

Nice to Have

Additional experience that could be useful includes:

  • Familiarity with VRChat or other social virtual reality platforms.
  • Experience creating textures for real-time 3D environments.
  • Knowledge of Unity or similar game development tools.
