OpenTrain AI is looking for an AI Content Evaluation & Editing Specialist to review human-written and AI-generated content used in artificial intelligence training.
This remote opportunity is particularly relevant for writers, editors, linguists, English teachers and content professionals who can recognize subtle differences in writing quality.
You'll evaluate text for everything from grammar and accuracy to tone and coherence, identifying content that feels repetitive, unnatural or poorly constructed and providing feedback that can improve AI training datasets.
The role pays $20–$70 per hour and requires at least 20 hours of availability per week.
What you'll be working on
You'll review written material created both by humans and AI systems and determine whether it meets defined quality standards.
Your responsibilities can include:
- Evaluating clarity and readability.
- Checking grammar and syntax.
- Reviewing structure and organization.
- Assessing tone and style.
- Identifying factual or logical accuracy issues.
- Evaluating whether the intended meaning is communicated effectively.
- Detecting repetitive or unnatural writing.
- Recognizing characteristics commonly associated with low-quality AI-generated content.
- Editing documents while maintaining strong English-language standards.
- Annotating problematic passages.
- Providing constructive editorial feedback.
- Writing analyses and recommendations that support AI training.
The goal isn't simply to correct spelling mistakes. You'll need to make more nuanced judgments about whether writing feels coherent, natural, precise and appropriate for its intended purpose.
Human vs. AI-generated writing
An important part of this position is understanding the differences that can appear between strong human writing and lower-quality machine-generated content.
You may encounter text that is grammatically correct but still suffers from issues such as:
- Excessive repetition.
- Artificial phrasing.
- Weak transitions.
- Generic language.
- Inconsistent tone.
- Poor organization.
- Unclear meaning.
- Unnecessary verbosity.
You'll need to identify these problems consistently and explain what could be improved.
Who they're looking for
Although OpenTrain AI categorizes the opportunity as entry level, candidates should already have relevant experience in areas such as:
- Professional writing.
- Editing.
- Content review.
- Text evaluation.
- Quality assurance.
- English-language teaching.
- Linguistics.
Previous AI training or RLHF experience can be useful, but isn't listed as a requirement.
Skills you'll need
Strong English is fundamental to this role.
OpenTrain AI is looking for candidates with:
- Professional English fluency.
- Excellent written communication.
- Strong grammar and syntax.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to evaluate tone and meaning.
- Strong editorial judgment.
- Ability to recognize subtle differences between human and AI-generated writing.
- Good organization.
- Ability to work independently.
- Consistency when applying evaluation guidelines.
Because the work contributes to structured AI datasets, maintaining the same quality standards across many assignments is particularly important.
Education & additional experience
A bachelor's degree isn't presented as a strict requirement, but a degree in English, linguistics or a related discipline can strengthen your application.
Previous experience teaching English is also considered useful.
Availability that overlaps with Australian or New Zealand working hours may be advantageous for some projects.
Compensation & schedule
The advertised rate is:
$20–$70 USD per hour
This is a part-time contractor position requiring at least 20 hours per week.
Assignments are completed remotely and independently, although you'll also coordinate with project managers and other specialists to meet project deadlines and quality expectations.
Location
The position is open across 53 eligible countries.
These include the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore, Vietnam, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Poland, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Japan and several other locations.
Candidates should check the complete eligibility list during the application process.
How to apply
The application process has two stages:
- Create a free OpenTrain AI account and apply with your resume.
- Continue to the hiring platform and complete the remaining application process.
About AI content evaluation
Training modern language models requires more than simply providing them with large quantities of text.
Human reviewers help determine which examples are clear, accurate, natural and useful — and which contain problems that could reduce the quality of a model's output.
Writers and editors are particularly valuable in this process because many of the differences between excellent and mediocre AI-generated content require contextual and linguistic judgment rather than a simple automated grammar check.
As an AI Content Evaluation & Editing Specialist, you'll apply that judgment directly to the datasets used to train and evaluate AI systems.
