AI-Forward Product Designer

Forge is hiring an AI-Forward Product Designer to help shape the future of digital commerce experiences.

This remote position offers an opportunity to work on a global B2B eCommerce platform, designing intuitive, accessible, and scalable experiences for manufacturers, retailers, and business customers.

The company is looking for an experienced designer who integrates artificial intelligence into their everyday workflow. Rather than treating AI as an occasional productivity tool, you will use it to accelerate exploration, generate design alternatives, improve prototyping, and deliver thoughtful, high-quality solutions.

You will take ownership of the end-to-end product design process, from understanding customer challenges and developing user flows to creating polished interfaces and supporting engineering implementation.

Reporting to the Director of Product, you will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to build digital experiences that work across different regions, languages, and devices.

This role is particularly suited to designers who combine strong visual and interaction design skills with technical curiosity, independent problem-solving, and hands-on experience using AI-powered design tools.

Key Responsibilities

Product Design and User Experience

• Lead end-to-end UI/UX design for web-based products and digital commerce experiences.

• Create detailed user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity interfaces, and interactive prototypes using Figma.

• Design responsive experiences optimized for mobile, tablet, and desktop devices.

• Translate complex customer requirements and business workflows into intuitive, user-centered interfaces.

• Develop solutions that support international users across multiple languages, regions, and devices.

• Apply accessibility principles and established UX best practices throughout the design process.

• Maintain a high standard of visual design, usability, consistency, and attention to detail.

AI-Powered Design and Prototyping

• Integrate AI-powered tools into the design workflow to accelerate research, exploration, and prototyping.

• Use tools such as Figma AI and Claude to generate design variations, explore concepts, and test alternative approaches.

• Evaluate AI-generated outputs critically and refine them using professional design judgment.

• Identify opportunities where AI can improve productivity, creativity, and design quality.

• Experiment with emerging AI capabilities while maintaining ownership of design decisions and final deliverables.

• Demonstrate practical experience using AI to solve real design challenges.

Design Systems and Documentation

• Contribute to the development, maintenance, and evolution of the product's design system.

• Create and refine reusable components, patterns, and design guidelines.

• Ensure consistency between design specifications and implemented interfaces.

• Document interaction behavior, component states, edge cases, and technical requirements.

• Prepare clear design specifications that support efficient collaboration with engineering teams.

• Help improve the scalability and maintainability of the overall product experience.

Research and Customer Understanding

• Develop a strong understanding of the company's customers, business model, and purchasing workflows.

• Gather insights from users, customer feedback, and focus groups.

• Identify usability challenges and opportunities to improve existing product experiences.

• Translate research findings into practical design improvements.

• Balance customer needs, business priorities, and technical constraints when evaluating solutions.

• Continuously refine designs based on feedback and evolving product requirements.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with product managers and engineers throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Collaborate from initial concept development through design validation, implementation, and launch.

• Communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Participate in Agile planning, reviews, and other development ceremonies.

• Manage multiple design priorities while maintaining quality and meeting project objectives.

• Give and receive constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

Professional Experience

• At least 5 years of professional experience as a Product Designer, UX Designer, UI/UX Designer, or in a similar role.

• A strong portfolio featuring shipped, responsive web products.

• Previous experience designing complex digital products, ideally within B2B or eCommerce environments.

• Demonstrated ability to manage design projects independently and deliver solutions from concept to implementation.

• Experience collaborating directly with engineers and product teams.

Design and Technical Skills

• Expert-level proficiency in Figma, including Auto Layout, reusable components, and interactive prototyping.

• Strong understanding of interaction design, visual design, user flows, and responsive interfaces.

• Experience designing accessible digital products, with working knowledge of accessibility standards.

• Experience building, maintaining, or contributing to design systems and component libraries.

• Ability to produce detailed design specifications and engineering handoff documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and the ability to solve complex interface challenges.

• Understanding of how design decisions translate into functional web experiences.

AI Design Skills

• Practical experience using AI-powered design and prototyping tools.

• Familiarity with tools such as Figma AI, Claude, or comparable AI-assisted workflows.

• Ability to demonstrate how AI has contributed to your design process through portfolio examples or professional discussions.

• Understanding of when AI-generated solutions are useful and when human judgment is essential.

• Willingness to experiment with emerging technologies and continuously improve design workflows.

Communication and Collaboration

Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: $115,000–$130,000

The advertised salary range represents Forge's estimated target compensation for this position. Actual compensation may vary depending on qualifications and applicable legal requirements.
