Figma is looking for a Brand Designer focused on Product Launches to shape how new products and features are introduced to the world.
This role sits between brand design, visual storytelling, product marketing and motion. You'll take complex product strategies and feature details and transform them into clear visual narratives that make launches easier to understand—and more memorable.
Rather than simply executing an established visual system, Figma wants someone capable of developing the creative direction behind major product moments and carrying that vision from early concepts through final production.
Turn Product Strategy Into Visual Stories
A major part of the role is figuring out the story behind a product launch before deciding how it should look.
You'll take product strategy, market context and complicated feature information and translate them into compelling creative concepts.
Your work will include:
- Developing visual concepts for major product launches
- Creating storyboards and styleframes
- Establishing visual direction for launch campaigns
- Translating product features into engaging narratives
- Exploring new visual formats
- Developing concepts from early ideas through finished execution
- Helping evolve Figma's broader visual storytelling system
The goal is to make sophisticated product ideas feel clear, engaging and emotionally resonant rather than simply presenting a list of features.
Design at the Intersection of Brand and Motion
Motion plays an important role in how Figma communicates its products.
You won't necessarily need to be a specialist motion designer, but you should understand how composition, color, pacing and visual hierarchy work when designs move rather than remain static.
You'll collaborate with motion designers and production teams to turn your storyboards and styleframes into finished launch experiences.
Experience producing basic animations or motion tests yourself would be useful, but isn't required.
Work Across Creative and Product Teams
Product launches at Figma bring together multiple disciplines.
You'll collaborate closely with:
- Brand Designers
- Product Designers
- Motion Designers
- Copywriters
- Product Marketers
- Strategists
- Producers
- Production teams
You'll need to take strategic and business briefs, identify the strongest underlying idea and establish a visual direction that different creative disciplines can execute consistently.
What Figma Is Looking For
Your portfolio will be particularly important for this role.
Figma wants to see a distinctive visual point of view that carries from concept through final execution, ideally across multiple formats.
Relevant portfolio work can include:
- Storyboards
- Styleframes
- Product-launch concepts
- Brand campaigns
- Motion-led design
- Product films
- Explainer videos
- Product walkthroughs
- Visual storytelling systems
- Concept development
Figma explicitly states that speculative work using fictional brands or products is welcome, so relevant thinking and execution can matter even when the project wasn't produced commercially.
Skills That Matter
Strong candidates should demonstrate:
- Excellent visual-design craft
- Strong composition
- Sophisticated use of color
- Understanding of pacing and motion
- Visual storytelling ability
- Ability to simplify strategic complexity
- Strong concept-development skills
- Confidence establishing creative direction
- Ability to work autonomously
- Strong collaboration across creative disciplines
- Proficiency in Figma
Experience with After Effects is useful but isn't required.
Additional Experience That Could Help
Figma is also interested in candidates who can bring additional experimentation and production capabilities.
That could include:
- Creating basic animations independently
- Building motion tests
- Product-launch films
- Explainer videos
- Product walkthroughs
- Experimenting with emerging creative tools
- Developing new production workflows
- Exploring new technologies for visual storytelling
Curiosity about Figma itself and an understanding of the company's products and mission are also important.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range is:
$127,000–$269,000 USD
Final compensation depends on factors including skills, relevant experience, expected impact, scope of the position, market conditions and work location.
Figma also offers equity and a broader benefits package that can include:
- Health, dental and vision coverage
- Retirement benefits with company contributions
- Parental and family-planning support
- Mental health and wellness benefits
- Paid time off
- Flexible PTO for eligible employees
- Paid sick leave and holidays
- Company recharge days
- Phone and home internet reimbursements
- Lifestyle spending accounts
- Annual bonus opportunities for eligible non-sales positions
Work Location
This is a full-time position that can be based at one of Figma's U.S. hubs or performed remotely within the United States.
Candidates who are hired will be required to attend onboarding in person.
