CAD & Graphic Designer

This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

Comfrt is looking for an experienced CAD & Graphic Designer to develop the prints, patterns and graphics that define its collections across apparel, accessories, home products and packaging.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both sides of graphic design: creating distinctive visual concepts and understanding what needs to happen for those ideas to work on an actual product.

You'll contribute to seasonal collections while helping evolve Comfrt's visual identity across multiple categories, moving between illustration, pattern, typography, colour and packaging rather than working within one narrow design style.

Your work won't stay on the screen

A large part of the challenge is understanding how artwork changes once it enters production.

A beautiful graphic in Illustrator still needs to work when it's printed on a particular fabric, embroidered onto a garment or affected by washing and dyeing techniques.

You'll collaborate with internal teams, factories and vendors to make sure the final product retains the intention of the original design.

Your work will include:

  • Developing original graphics, prints and repeat patterns.
  • Creating artwork across logo, licensed and non-logo categories.
  • Designing graphics for apparel, accessories and home products.
  • Developing product packaging.
  • Exploring colour, pattern and visual directions for seasonal collections.
  • Researching trends across fashion, retail, graphics, home and culture.
  • Using market research and social listening to identify emerging ideas.
  • Preparing artwork for different materials and production techniques.
  • Communicating directly with factories and vendors.
  • Reviewing strike-offs and providing clear feedback on execution.
  • Presenting concepts and creative direction to cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
  • Maintaining organized design files and artwork archives.

Strong visual craft is only part of the job

Comfrt needs someone with a sophisticated understanding of colour, composition, typography, print and pattern.

But versatility matters too.

Your portfolio could move from elaborate plaids, camouflage and watercolor illustrations to scenic artwork, simple dots, stripes and clean graphic treatments.

You'll need to understand when a collection needs something expressive and visually rich — and when restraint creates the stronger result.

You'll need to understand how things get made

Production knowledge is particularly important for this position.

You should understand how graphics and prints behave across different fabrics and be familiar with the opportunities and limitations created by:

  • Garment washing.
  • Dyeing.
  • Printing techniques.
  • Embroidery.
  • Specialty applications.
  • Different fabric types and constructions.

That knowledge should allow you to anticipate production problems rather than simply reacting to them later.

You'll work with factories to make decisions around scale, placement, print quality and application methods, helping ensure that the finished product remains commercially viable without compromising the creative direction.

The experience Comfrt is looking for

This is a senior-level creative position requiring 10+ years of experience in graphic and/or CAD design, ideally within apparel or a global retail environment.

You'll need strong proficiency in:

  • Adobe Photoshop.
  • Adobe Illustrator.
  • Adobe InDesign.

A bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Illustration or a related field is preferred, although equivalent professional experience is also accepted.

Comfrt also values designers who can operate autonomously. You'll be balancing graphic development, packaging, trend research, production conversations and multiple deadlines, so organization and prioritization are essential.

At the same time, this isn't an isolated creative role. You'll collaborate with design, production, vendors and other teams, present your thinking clearly and be comfortable incorporating feedback into the work.

Your portfolio should show range

A portfolio is required as part of the application.

Comfrt wants to see more than polished final graphics. Your work should demonstrate visual range, colour judgment and concept development, particularly across different styles and product applications.

Examples showing how an initial creative idea ultimately translated into a physical product could be especially relevant for this position.

Already a Graphic Designer — but thinking about UX?

A strong background in visual design can also provide a useful foundation for moving into UX and Product Design.

If you've been considering that transition, Designlab's UX Academy is a career-focused program designed to develop skills across user research, information architecture, interaction design, prototyping and testing, while building a UX portfolio for your next step.

Designers with substantial visual design experience may also be eligible to apply directly to UX Academy rather than completing the introductory Foundations program first.

Why join Comfrt?

Comfrt is a growing direct-to-consumer brand that connects its products with a broader focus on comfort, inclusivity and mental wellness.

The company offers a fully remote working environment where this designer will have room to influence collections rather than simply execute predefined artwork.

Benefits include:

  • Generous paid time off.
  • Company-covered health insurance.
  • 5% 401(k) match.
  • Discounts across Comfrt products.
  • A remote and collaborative working environment.

For an experienced graphic designer who understands both creative direction and physical production, this is an opportunity to work across a particularly broad mix of apparel graphics, pattern, packaging and product categories.
