OpenTrain AI is looking for Computer Workflow Data Annotators to record and review real-world software workflows used to help train AI systems.

This is a short-term, fully remote opportunity open worldwide. The work involves completing detailed tasks across different computer applications while recording your screen, then reviewing and documenting those interactions so they can be used as high-quality AI training data.

No previous professional annotation experience is required, making this an accessible opportunity for candidates who are comfortable with technology and highly attentive to detail.

What you'll be doing

You'll follow detailed written instructions and complete multi-step workflows across productivity, design, education, analytics, development and other types of software.

Some assignments can involve more than 100 individual interactions, so accuracy and consistency are important.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Recording your screen while completing assigned computer workflows.
  • Following detailed instructions across different applications and interfaces.
  • Reviewing recordings to make sure workflows were captured correctly.
  • Labeling or verifying clicks, keystrokes and other user actions.
  • Installing or configuring software when required for a task.
  • Maintaining consistent file names and accurate task documentation.
  • Following privacy, confidentiality and data-handling requirements.
  • Identifying and correcting incomplete or inaccurate recordings.

What they're looking for

This opportunity doesn't require extensive professional experience, but you should be confident navigating different types of software and following detailed procedures without losing accuracy.

You'll need:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good written English.
  • General computer and technical literacy.
  • Confidence learning unfamiliar applications.
  • A reliable computer with at least 16GB of RAM.
  • Stable internet access.
  • Ability to work with Windows, macOS or iOS environments.
  • Availability for the required schedule and Pacific Time overlap.

Experience that can help

Previous experience isn't mandatory, but OpenTrain highlights several backgrounds that could be useful, including:

  • Data annotation.
  • Software QA and testing.
  • User research.
  • Audio or video production.
  • Software installation and configuration.
  • Productivity and design tools.
  • Development environments.
  • Basic coding.

Familiarity with tools such as Visual Studio or PyCharm can also be useful.

Experience with recording and editing applications including OBS Studio, Audacity, Shotcut, OpenShot, HitFilm, Lightworks or Ardour may also transfer well to the work.

Contract and schedule

This is expected to be a 3–4 week contractor assignment.

The listing contains conflicting scheduling information: it categorizes the opportunity as part-time at 20+ hours per week, while the assignment details specify 40 hours per week, including four hours of overlap with Pacific Time.

Candidates should therefore confirm the exact weekly commitment during the application process.

The position is 100% remote and open worldwide.

Compensation

OpenTrain describes compensation as competitive but does not provide a specific hourly rate, project rate or other payment amount in the listing.

About the work

AI systems that interact with computers need examples of how people actually navigate software and complete tasks.

In this assignment, your screen recordings and annotations provide those examples. By accurately capturing workflows — including clicks, keystrokes and application interactions — you'll contribute data that can help AI systems better understand how software is used in real-world situations.
