Your creative experience could help teach AI what good design looks like
OpenTrain AI is looking for creative professionals who can bring something AI models don't inherently have: years of practical judgment about what makes professional creative work believable, accurate and usable.
This remote contractor opportunity involves evaluating AI-generated work across areas including graphic design, UI/UX, video production, motion graphics and fashion design.
Rather than creating assets for clients, you'll examine what AI systems produce and determine whether those outputs reflect how experienced professionals would actually work with creative tools.
The opportunity is open worldwide, with an advertised rate of $30–$65 per hour depending on relevant experience and application expertise.
What does creative AI evaluation actually involve?
Modern AI systems improve partly through structured human feedback.
For this project, that feedback comes from people who understand creative production well enough to spot when an AI-generated result makes sense — and when it only looks plausible.
You could be asked to assess work involving applications such as Figma, Canva, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, CorelDRAW, CLO3D, Camtasia, Lightroom, Mural, Milanote and Behance.
You'll use your professional experience to evaluate whether generated outputs accurately represent real workflows, provide annotations and identify problems that someone without creative-industry experience might miss.
Already designing professionally? Take your own AI skills further
This role is about using your existing creative expertise to improve AI. But AI is also becoming increasingly useful inside designers' own workflows.
For UX and Product Designers interested in developing that side of their skill set, Designlab's AI Product Design Certification focuses on practical ways to use AI across the design process — while also exploring the design of AI-powered products.

What you'll be evaluating
Assignments can vary depending on the project, but your work may include:
- Reviewing AI-generated creative outputs for accuracy and realism.
- Evaluating whether results reflect authentic professional workflows.
- Assessing UI, graphic design, video, motion or other multimedia work.
- Identifying mistakes, inconsistencies or unrealistic use of creative applications.
- Providing structured annotations and quality feedback.
- Applying professional judgment rather than simply following visual preferences.
- Working within defined evaluation guidelines and quality standards.
- Completing assigned work within project deadlines.
The important skill isn't simply knowing what looks attractive. It's understanding how professional creative work is actually produced and being able to recognize when an AI system gets that process wrong.
You don't need to be an expert in every creative discipline
OpenTrain is looking for professionals with at least two years of relevant experience in areas such as graphic design, UI/UX, video editing, motion graphics, fashion design or related creative work.
You'll need practical proficiency with at least two of the creative applications relevant to the project.
That makes the opportunity potentially suitable for:
- Graphic and visual designers.
- UI/UX designers.
- Video editors.
- Motion designers.
- Fashion designers working with digital tools.
- Multidisciplinary creative professionals.
Experience spanning several disciplines could be useful, but broad knowledge isn't a substitute for genuine professional expertise in the tools and workflows you evaluate.
What you'll need
Alongside your professional creative background, OpenTrain requires:
- At least two years of experience in a relevant creative field.
- Hands-on knowledge of at least two applicable creative tools.
- The ability to distinguish credible professional outputs from inaccurate or unrealistic ones.
- Clear written feedback and annotation skills.
- English at B2 level or higher.
- Reliable internet access.
- Availability for at least 20 hours per week.
- The ability to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
A different way to use your design experience
This opportunity could be particularly interesting if you already work in design or another creative discipline but want exposure to the AI training industry without changing careers completely.
Instead of starting again as an AI specialist, you're applying knowledge you already have — design judgment, production experience and familiarity with professional tools — to the evaluation of AI systems.
The work is fully remote and open worldwide, with contractor flexibility and an advertised hourly rate of $30–$65.
OpenTrain also allows professionals to create a profile showcasing their expertise and use it to discover additional AI training and data-labeling projects that match their background.
