Capital Commerce is a specialized agency that helps successful brick-and-mortar retailers bring their in-store success online. Our focus is simple: we translate what makes them unique in-store into eCommerce growth through our proven 12-week Momentum program.
We don’t use generic strategies—we create integrated growth engines that feel like natural extensions of our clients’ physical stores. When we succeed, independent retailers grow their businesses, create jobs, and strengthen their communities.
The Role
We’re looking for a Web Designer to join our collaborative, fast-moving team. In this role, you’ll design conversion-focused websites and branding for independent retail brands, shaping their digital presence from early discovery through final Shopify design handoff.
This is not a typical agency role—you’ll be part of a mission-driven team that values quality, efficiency, and support. You’ll also contribute to Capital Commerce’s own marketing through digital design assets that strengthen our brand presence.
Responsibilities
- Create mockups for Shopify websites (home, collection, and product pages) using Sketch (or similar tools like Figma).
- Collaborate on client brand identity, including color palettes, fonts, and visuals.
- Support early-stage discovery sessions focused on brand voice, values, and customer insights.
- Apply eCommerce conversion best practices to design layouts.
- Revise designs based on client and team feedback.
- Partner with developers and the client success team to ensure designs align with strategy.
- Contribute to internal marketing by designing lead magnets, graphics, and visual assets.
Day-to-Day
- Join weekly internal check-ins and client meetings.
- Manage deadlines across multiple projects.
- Work in Sketch and Canva to produce or update designs.
- Communicate with the team via Slack, Basecamp, Loom, and Zoom.
- Track deliverables to stay aligned with project timelines.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of design principles, layout, and visual hierarchy.
- Proficiency in Canva and familiarity with Sketch (or other design tools).
- Basic knowledge of eCommerce design best practices.
- Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills—clear, proactive, and collaborative.
- Receptive to feedback, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Client-aware mindset—designs with the end user and conversions in mind.
Bonus Skills
- Experience designing for eCommerce conversion and retention.
- Prior work with retail or direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands.
- Strong proficiency in Sketch and Canva.
- Familiarity with email, ad creative, or marketing funnel design.
What We Offer
- 401k with company matching.
- Paid time off and mental health reimbursement.
- QSHERA health care reimbursement.
- Fully remote, flexible work environment.
- Supportive, collaborative, and ego-free team culture.
- Clear, proven processes that set you and clients up for success.
- Opportunities to grow as the company scales in retail and eCommerce.
Equal Opportunity
Capital Commerce is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace for all team members.
