The Daily Dot is looking for a talented designer with substantial experience in illustration, photo editing, and brand design to support our online editorial platform. This fully remote contract position requires someone with a solid background in media or news, capable of responding quickly to editorial needs and producing high-quality visual content under tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create art quickly to accompany breaking news and feature stories.
- Collaborate with editors and writers to deliver impactful, on-brand visuals that enhance storytelling.
- Work with the Art Desk team to develop innovative approaches and improve visual content workflows.
- Maintain organized, accessible files and assets.
- Source, edit, and credit visual content while adhering to copyright standards.
- Contribute fresh ideas for illustrations, photos, and design approaches that align with The Daily Dot’s editorial voice.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Graphic Designer with a strong portfolio of editorial illustrations, photo editing, and brand design.
- Background in news media or similar fast-paced environments is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (and other design tools).
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration in a remote team.
- Ability to adapt and work creatively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.
- Commitment to deadlines and a keen attention to detail.
- Knowledge of copyright and image risk issues.
