Newsela is hiring a UI Designer on a contract basis, open to professionals based in Argentina or Mexico. This is a great opportunity for a mid-level designer who excels at crafting intuitive, visually engaging user interfaces with a strong focus on interaction and motion.
You’ll work alongside product managers, engineers, and designers to bring educational products to life—balancing clarity, usability, and brand consistency in every screen.
What you’ll work on:
- Design polished, accessible user interfaces for web and mobile
- Create interaction patterns and motion that support user experience and visual cohesion
- Collaborate with UX designers, developers, and product leads from idea to execution
- Translate design decisions into clear specs and interactive prototypes
- Contribute to and evolve the design system
- Maintain high design quality and always advocate for the user
What they’re looking for:
- 3–5 years of experience designing digital products
- Strong portfolio showcasing UI design, interaction, and motion
- Skilled with tools like Figma, Rive, After Effects, Principle, or similar
- Understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS, responsive design, component libraries)
- Ability to iterate quickly and give/receive constructive feedback
- Experience designing for accessibility (WCAG) is a plus
- Background in edtech or designing for learners is a bonus
- Familiarity with agile workflows and evolving design systems preferred
