Help designers learn Figma through motion and storytelling

Figma is looking for a Motion Designer to join its Product Education team and create engaging educational experiences that help designers and developers get more from the platform.

This role sits at the intersection of motion design, product education, visual storytelling, and video production. You'll turn complex Figma features and workflows into clear, approachable content for the company's global design community.

A major part of the role will involve producing guided tutorials for Figma's YouTube channel, but you'll also collaborate across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Brand, Community, and Growth on content supporting new and existing features.

What you'll be doing

You'll own video projects from the initial idea through publication, combining design, animation, editing, and education.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing video production end-to-end, from concept through final delivery.
  • Creating guided tutorials explaining Figma products and features.
  • Collaborating with Education Designers and Content Strategists on clear, concise scripts.
  • Recording voiceovers, screen recordings, and other video content.
  • Designing visual assets and motion graphics.
  • Creating animations, transitions, and explainers that make complex concepts easier to understand.
  • Editing and publishing finished videos to YouTube.
  • Working with Product and Engineering to understand how features work and the problems they solve.
  • Partnering with Marketing, Brand, Community, and Growth around new product launches.
  • Developing new educational video concepts and formats.
  • Monitoring performance metrics and using lightweight analytics to understand how content performs.
  • Engaging directly with Figma users through video comments and feedback.

Motion design with an educational purpose

This isn't simply a role creating polished animations.

Figma wants someone who can determine how to explain a complicated product concept visually, particularly to junior and prospective designers and developers.

You'll need to think about pacing, hierarchy, animation, storytelling, and clarity while deciding which visual approach will make a feature easiest to understand.

That also means being willing to experiment, test different approaches, and abandon ideas that aren't communicating effectively.

What they're looking for

Figma is particularly interested in candidates with experience creating educational motion content for SaaS products and digital features.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • Excellent motion design and visual storytelling skills.
  • Experience producing clear and approachable educational content.
  • The ability to simplify complex product concepts.
  • Strong video production and editing capabilities.
  • Experience creating motion graphics, explainers, and transitions.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience brainstorming and developing new creative concepts.
  • An understanding of how design and motion can support learning.
  • Genuine interest in making design and development more accessible.

Figma also emphasizes that candidates shouldn't necessarily rule themselves out if their experience doesn't perfectly match every requirement.

Working closely with the product

Because the content teaches people how to use Figma, you'll work directly with Product and Engineering teams to understand both existing capabilities and upcoming features.

You'll then collaborate with teams across the organization to determine how those features should be explained and presented to the community.

That creates an interesting opportunity for a Motion Designer who wants to work much closer to product design and technology than in a traditional marketing-focused motion role.

Figma, AI and the future of design

Figma is increasingly incorporating AI throughout its platform, helping teams move from brainstorming and prototyping to design, code, and iteration with AI-assisted workflows.

As a Product Education Motion Designer, you'll be working within that rapidly changing design ecosystem and helping users understand the tools and workflows shaping how digital products are created.

Compensation

The annual base salary range is:

$105,000–$183,000 USD

Actual compensation depends on factors including experience, skills, expected impact, role scope, and location.

Figma also offers equity and eligible employees may participate in an annual bonus program.

Benefits

Figma's benefits include:

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Equity.
  • Retirement benefits with company contributions.
  • Flexible paid time off for eligible employees.
  • Paid sick leave and holidays.
  • Parental leave.
  • Reproductive and family-planning support.
  • Mental health and wellness benefits.
  • Company recharge days.
  • Home internet and mobile phone reimbursements.
  • Lifestyle spending accounts.

Location

This is a US-based position that can be performed remotely or from one of Figma's US hubs.

Candidates who are hired will be required to attend onboarding in person.

Figma is an equal-opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations throughout the application and interview process.
