Turn complicated employee programs into stories people actually want to watch

Prowess Consulting is looking for a Multimedia / Motion Designer to create video and animated content for Total Rewards and employee programs at a major technology company.

A big part of the challenge is taking subjects that can easily become dense—benefits, wellbeing programs, enrollment updates and other internal communications—and finding a visual story that makes them easier to understand.

This is a contract role combining motion design, video editing and storytelling, rather than a position focused purely on animation execution.

What you'll be creating

Projects will vary, but much of the work will revolve around communications for employees and managers.

You'll:

  • Produce explainer videos around benefits, HR initiatives and new program launches.
  • Create animated pieces for open enrollment, wellbeing campaigns and other employee programs.
  • Turn longer messages into concise, engaging short-form video.
  • Develop internal videos and clips that support leadership communications.
  • Work with communications leads, writers and project managers to translate messaging into visual narratives.
  • Contribute ideas around story structure, pacing and creative direction.
  • Keep the work visually polished while making complex information easier to follow.

The kind of designer they're looking for

Prowess is particularly interested in someone who understands that good motion work isn't simply about making things move. Clarity, pacing and narrative matter just as much as visual craft.

You'll need strong motion design and animation experience, including proficiency with tools such as After Effects, alongside solid video editing skills.

You should also be comfortable handling several projects at once and working collaboratively in an environment where priorities and weekly hours can change.

Previous work creating content for HR, Total Rewards, internal communications or large enterprise audiences would be especially relevant, although it isn't presented as an absolute requirement.

Portfolio

A portfolio is important for this application. Prowess wants to see examples of motion and video work, particularly animation, explainer videos or short-form content.

Work that demonstrates how you've taken a complicated subject and made it visually clear and engaging should be particularly useful here.

Contract & eligibility

This is a remote contract with variable hours from week to week.

The listed compensation is $50–$80 per hour on W2, depending on experience and location. Prowess notes that a 1099 arrangement may also be considered for candidates who already have an established business entity.

Candidates must currently live in one of the eligible US states listed for the position, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia and Washington, among others.

For a motion designer who enjoys making complicated information feel simple, rather than producing animation purely for visual effect, this is an interesting mix of storytelling, communication design and enterprise-scale work.
