baesh is looking for a UX / Product Lead to take ownership of the experience behind its Gen Z social platform, which is designed to help people turn online discovery into real-world connections through activities, communities and shared interests.
This is an early-stage core team position offering company equity rather than a salary at present. You'll have substantial influence over product strategy and UX, combining research, experimentation, interaction design and product thinking to help shape the platform as it grows beyond its initial Berlin market.
baesh also describes a potential path toward a paid leadership position following future fundraising.
What you'll be working on
You'll own the experience across important parts of the product, including onboarding, discovery, events, community interactions and retention.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Shaping the overall UX and product direction.
- Improving onboarding and user activation.
- Designing discovery and event experiences.
- Developing community and social interactions.
- Creating retention loops that encourage users to return.
- Translating the company's vision into product priorities and a practical roadmap.
- Defining hypotheses, experiments and success metrics.
- Using activation, engagement and retention data to guide decisions.
- Working closely with engineering to move ideas from concept to production.
The emphasis is on solving product problems and changing user behavior, rather than producing polished interfaces for their own sake.
Research & product validation
User research will be a significant part of the position.
You'll speak directly with Gen Z users and young millennials, particularly within baesh's initial German-speaking market, and use those conversations to identify opportunities for improving the product.
You'll also help establish ongoing feedback loops through:
- User interviews.
- Usability testing.
- Surveys.
- In-product feedback.
- Community insights.
- Churn analysis.
- Product experiments.
Most importantly, you'll be expected to turn what you learn into concrete product decisions and shipped improvements.
UX, interaction & social experiences
You'll design and refine key user journeys while exploring ways to make the platform more engaging and enjoyable.
That could involve experimenting with:
- Social mechanics.
- Gamification.
- Spontaneous interactions.
- Micro-interactions.
- Community experiences.
- Features that encourage offline participation.
You'll need strong interaction design and usability skills while still being comfortable delivering the visual quality required to bring those experiences to life.
The team also expects collaboration around AI-assisted workflows as the product evolves.
What they're looking for
baesh is more interested in your ability to influence product outcomes than in a particular job title.
They're looking for someone with:
- Strong UX or Product Design experience, or Product Management experience with substantial UX ownership.
- Excellent understanding of user flows, interaction design and usability.
- Ability to independently plan and conduct user interviews.
- Experience translating research insights into shipped product improvements.
- Strong product thinking around prioritization, experimentation and metrics.
- Experience improving activation, engagement or retention through product iteration.
- Solid visual design craft alongside deeper UX expertise.
- Confidence working in an early-stage startup environment.
- Ability to collaborate closely with engineering.
- A proactive approach to identifying and solving product problems.
This is a role for someone comfortable moving between research, strategy, design, experimentation and execution rather than specializing in only one stage of the process.
German & location requirements
German language knowledge is required, as you'll conduct research and validate ideas with German-speaking users.
The opportunity is fully remote but limited to candidates based in Europe, including the EU and Eastern Partnership countries.
Compensation & future opportunity
Candidates should be aware that this is currently an unpaid position.
Instead of a salary, baesh is offering:
- A core-team position.
- Company equity/shares.
- Significant influence over UX and product strategy.
- Flexible working hours.
- Fully remote work.
- Growth opportunities as the company develops.
- A potential path toward a paid leadership position following fundraising.
Because compensation currently consists of equity rather than salary, candidates should clarify the expected weekly commitment, equity allocation, vesting conditions and potential transition to paid employment before accepting the position.
Strengthen your data-driven product design skills
Roles like this increasingly expect UX designers to connect research and design decisions with experimentation, product metrics and measurable outcomes.
Designlab's Data-Driven Design course is designed for experienced designers who want to become more confident using data to inform product decisions, evaluate experiments and demonstrate the impact of their work.

Why this role is different
This isn't a conventional UX position where you'll simply receive requirements and turn them into screens.
You'll be involved across the product development cycle:
Research → Product Strategy → Experimentation → UX Design → Shipping → Measurement → Iteration
That means you'll have direct influence over how baesh approaches activation, engagement and retention, as well as the social mechanics designed to encourage users to meet and participate in activities offline.
