Product Design & Frontend AI Training Specialist

OpenTrain AI is looking for professionals across Product Design, UX, UI and Frontend Engineering to help train next-generation AI systems.

This isn't a traditional Product Designer or Frontend Developer position. Instead of shipping production features, you'll use your professional expertise to analyze design and technical decisions, document trade-offs and explain the reasoning behind effective product experiences.

The opportunity is fully remote and open worldwide, paying $90–$140 per hour with a commitment of at least 20 hours per week.

The project sits at the intersection of Product Design, UX, accessibility, design systems and frontend development.

You'll evaluate real product and technical problems and translate your reasoning into structured written material that can be used to improve AI systems.

That could mean explaining:

• Why one UX approach works better than another
• How design decisions affect users
• Trade-offs between alternative solutions
• Accessibility implications
• Design-system decisions
• Figma workflows
• Frontend architecture considerations
• Technical constraints
• Business and product implications

Strong analytical thinking and the ability to communicate complex decisions clearly are central to the role.

What you'll work on

Your assignments may include:

• Analyzing Product Design and UX challenges
• Explaining design and engineering decisions
• Evaluating project artifacts
• Reviewing design systems and component libraries
• Assessing Figma workflows
• Evaluating accessibility considerations
• Analyzing frontend architecture trade-offs
• Synthesizing UX research
• Producing usability reports and recommendations
• Writing and reviewing design documentation
• Working with RFCs and ADRs
• Comparing alternative product or technical approaches
• Documenting advantages, limitations and strategic implications

The work is primarily focused on analysis, evaluation and writing, rather than producing finished interfaces or production code.

Product Design + Frontend + AI

One of the most interesting aspects of this opportunity is its multidisciplinary scope.

OpenTrain is interested in professionals coming from Product Design, UX Research, UI/Visual Design or Frontend Engineering, provided they can demonstrate at least three years of relevant professional experience.

Previous AI experience isn't required.

Instead, your existing expertise becomes the foundation for helping AI systems understand how experienced professionals reason about products, interfaces and technology.

What OpenTrain is looking for

Candidates should have 3+ years of professional experience in at least one relevant discipline, such as:

Frontend candidates should be comfortable with modern JavaScript/TypeScript development and frameworks such as React.

This is also a writing-intensive position.

OpenTrain wants professionals who can take complex design or engineering problems and explain them precisely to people outside their discipline.

Your portfolio can therefore include written deliverables such as:

• Design documentation
• Research reports

• Design-system documentation
• Case studies
• RFCs
• ADRs
• Technical or strategic analyses

Strong synthesis, critical thinking and professional written English are important.
