Product Design Reasoning Writer

OpenTrain AI is looking for experienced Product Designers with strong analytical writing skills to help train next-generation AI systems.

Rather than creating visual interfaces, you'll focus on something experienced designers do every day: explaining why a product decision makes sense.

You'll turn your professional design judgment into structured written analyses covering design decisions, trade-offs, constraints, business context and user impact — helping AI systems learn how experienced Product Designers reason through complex problems.

This is a fully remote, worldwide contractor opportunity paying $90–$140 per hour, with an expected commitment of at least 20 hours per week.

Turn Product Design thinking into AI training data

The central skill in this role isn't producing polished UI. It's being able to think like a Product Designer and clearly explain that thinking.

You'll create written material that helps AI systems understand questions such as:

• Why is one design solution stronger than another?
• What trade-offs does a particular decision introduce?
• How should user needs influence the solution?
• What technical or business constraints need to be considered?
• How might a decision affect different stakeholders?
• What information is missing before making a decision?
• How should an experienced designer approach an ambiguous problem?

Your professional Product Design experience provides the judgment behind those answers.

What you'll work on

Assignments will primarily involve writing, analysis and evaluation rather than traditional visual design production.

You'll:

• Explain Product Design decisions and rationale
• Analyze their potential impact on users
• Evaluate product and design information
• Identify constraints and trade-offs
• Incorporate relevant business context
• Compare alternative design solutions
• Explain important decision points
• Draft and refine design documentation
• Review specifications and critiques
• Work with detailed design case studies
• Translate complex UX concepts into accessible language
• Communicate design reasoning to non-technical audiences

You'll also collaborate asynchronously with project stakeholders to clarify requirements and align on deliverables.

Strong analytical writing is essential
