This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

Virtualitics is looking for a Product Designer to help shape AI-powered software used across defense, government and critical infrastructure.

You'll design chat-first and agent-driven experiences, exploring how users interact with AI-generated insights and how those conversations translate into real decisions and actions.

The work sits directly at the intersection of Product Design, enterprise software and AI. You'll collaborate closely with Product Managers and engineers, prototype ideas using Figma and AI tools, work within an established design system and review conversational responses and generated interfaces before they reach users.

Designing AI That Helps People Make Decisions

This isn't simply a traditional UI role inside an AI company.

AI interaction itself is part of the product experience.

You'll think through questions such as how an AI agent should communicate an insight, what information the user needs next, how generated interfaces should behave and how someone moves from asking a question to confidently taking action.

That means designing both the interface around the AI and the interaction between the user and the AI system.

What You'll Be Doing

Your work will include:

  • Design chat-first product experiences built around AI agents.
  • Define how insights and recommendations are presented conversationally.
  • Create user journeys that move people from questions to decisions.
  • Translate well-defined product problems into flows, states and polished interfaces.
  • Prototype concepts using Figma and AI-powered tools.
  • Design complex components and interaction states.
  • Work within Virtualitics' existing design system and component library.
  • Identify inconsistencies and missing patterns within the system.
  • Review agent responses and conversational experiences from a UX perspective.
  • Evaluate generated UI and layouts before release.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers and engineers.
  • Present design rationale and explain key product decisions.
  • Incorporate feedback and iterate quickly.

What They're Looking For

Virtualitics is looking for an early-career Product Designer with strong fundamentals and attention to detail.

You should have:

  • 1–4 years of Product Design experience.
  • Strong Figma skills.
  • Experience producing clearly documented designs and prototypes.
  • A portfolio containing 1–3 case studies or completed projects.
  • Strong visual design judgment.
  • Good interaction design fundamentals.
  • Solid UX and UI skills.
  • Understanding of accessibility principles.
  • Experience working with established design standards.
  • Familiarity with design systems.
  • Strong attention to hierarchy, spacing, states and interface details.
  • The ability to communicate and defend design decisions.
  • A willingness to critically evaluate your previous work.
  • Openness to feedback and new approaches.

AI & Conversational Design Experience

Previous experience designing AI products would be particularly valuable.

Virtualitics is interested in candidates who have worked with or explored:

  • AI and LLM-powered products.
  • Conversational interfaces.
  • Agentic workflows.
  • AI-assisted prototyping.
  • Generated user interfaces.
  • Claude.
  • Figma Make.

Being comfortable using AI as part of your day-to-day design and prototyping workflow is also a plus.

Enterprise & Technical Skills

Experience with complex software environments could strengthen your application.

Virtualitics particularly values exposure to data-dense, analytical or enterprise interfaces, where information architecture and interaction decisions can become significantly more complex.

Additional useful knowledge includes:

  • Design system contribution and documentation.
  • Components and design tokens.
  • Responsive interface behavior.
  • Interaction and motion design.
  • Conversational UI patterns.
  • Information architecture.
  • User-flow mapping.
  • WCAG accessibility fundamentals.
  • Code-based prototyping.
  • AI-assisted prototyping.
  • Front-end concepts that help designers collaborate effectively with engineers.

Defense & Government Products

Virtualitics develops AI-native readiness software for organizations operating in defense, government and critical infrastructure.

Its products are designed to help teams understand operational readiness, identify emerging risks, investigate underlying causes and determine what actions should be prioritized.

Interest in working within these sectors is preferred.

Candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance may also have an advantage.
