AllTrails is hiring a Product Designer to create consumer experiences used by millions of people to discover and enjoy the outdoors.

This role combines strong product and interaction design with something increasingly visible in modern design teams: AI fluency and the ability to use code as part of the creative process.

You'll work across iOS, Android and web, taking ideas from early exploration through launch and learning from how they perform once they're in users' hands.

What you'll be designing

You'll work within cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and turn them into shipped product experiences.

Your work will include:

  • Designing and iterating consumer-facing product features
  • Exploring behavioural loops that encourage participation and retention
  • Creating experiences around sharing, challenges, achievements and user-generated content
  • Communicating the value of AllTrails membership across different markets
  • Using interaction and motion to provide feedback and guide attention
  • Contributing to and extending the AllTrails design system
  • Taking projects from concept through launch and post-release learning

There's a strong community dimension to the role. AllTrails is particularly interested in designers who understand how product mechanics can encourage people to participate, contribute and return.

AI and code are becoming part of the design process

AllTrails specifically wants a designer who can use AI tools and front-end code as creative and prototyping tools.

AI fluency here goes beyond simply knowing how to use ChatGPT. You'll be expected to create effective prompts, provide useful context, critically evaluate generated outputs and iteratively guide AI toward higher-quality product solutions.

Experience building AI-native products, agentic workflows or multimodal interfaces is also considered an advantage.
