This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

GridUnity is looking for a Product Designer to own the end-to-end experience across a dedicated area of its energy technology portfolio.

This is a role for a designer who enjoys solving complex B2B and enterprise UX problems rather than simplifying consumer-facing experiences. You'll work with sophisticated workflows, data-heavy interfaces and specialist users operating within the highly regulated energy sector.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience and Insights, you'll turn complex operational requirements into clear, coherent product experiences.

What You’ll Be Designing

You'll take responsibility for UX quality across an assigned group of GridUnity products, helping ensure individual features work well while also feeling like part of a consistent platform.

Your work will include:

  • Designing end-to-end user journeys and workflows
  • Creating wireframes, interaction models and prototypes
  • Solving complex, data-intensive UX problems
  • Improving usability across existing product experiences
  • Identifying edge cases, error states and system constraints
  • Contributing reusable patterns to GridUnity's broader design system
  • Maintaining consistency across products and features
  • Documenting UX standards and best practices
  • Supporting major product and platform transitions

You'll work within GridUnity's existing design system while partnering with the platform Product Designer to contribute new patterns where needed.

Turn Research Into Better Product Decisions

Research and evidence play an important role in this position.

You'll plan and conduct activities such as:

  • User interviews
  • Workflow walkthroughs
  • Usability testing
  • Voice of Customer analysis
  • Qualitative research
  • Quantitative UX analysis

The focus is on understanding how customers actually work—including operational constraints and unusual edge cases—and using those findings to identify UX risks before they become product problems.

You'll synthesize research into actionable recommendations and communicate important findings to Product teams and leadership.

Define and Measure UX Quality

GridUnity also wants this designer to help establish how experience quality is measured.

You'll define and track UX success metrics, combining quantitative and qualitative evidence to understand where experiences are working and where they need improvement.

That means this isn't purely an execution role. You'll be expected to explain the reasoning behind design decisions, identify risks and use evidence to influence broader product decisions.

Partner From Strategy Through Implementation

You'll collaborate closely with Product Owners to translate roadmap priorities and product requirements into practical experiences.

Once a direction has been established, you'll work directly with Engineering through implementation.

That includes considering:

  • Technical feasibility
  • Permissions and user roles
  • Data availability
  • Error states
  • Edge cases
  • System limitations
  • Customer-specific configurations

You'll continue supporting the experience through design reviews, implementation feedback and post-release evaluation.

What GridUnity Is Looking For

Candidates should have 4+ years of experience designing complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software products.

Your portfolio should demonstrate the full design process rather than polished screens alone, including research, flows, interaction design and final shipped experiences.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • 4+ years of Product or UX Design experience
  • B2B SaaS or enterprise software experience
  • Strong end-to-end UX skills
  • Experience designing complex workflows
  • Experience with data-heavy interfaces
  • User research and usability-testing experience
  • Strong interaction design skills
  • Experience working with Product and Engineering
  • Agile product-development experience
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to support design decisions with evidence

Experience That Could Set You Apart

Previous experience designing within a regulated or operationally complex industry is particularly valuable.

That could include:

  • Energy
  • Utilities
  • Infrastructure
  • Government
  • Other regulated industries

GridUnity also values experience with SaaS products that need to balance standardized product experiences with customer-specific configuration.

Experience supporting platform migrations, major product evolutions or rapidly scaling organizations would also be useful.

About GridUnity

GridUnity develops software for managing the grid interconnection lifecycle.

Its platform brings utilities, grid operators and other stakeholders into a centralized environment designed to turn complex data into actionable information and reduce delays in connecting new energy projects to the electrical grid.

The company's broader mission is to help enable a more reliable, efficient and sustainable energy infrastructure.

Salary and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is:

$124,000–$170,000 USD

GridUnity also offers:

  • Remote-first working
  • Health, dental and vision insurance from day one
  • 401(k) with a 4% company match
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage
  • Basic life insurance
  • Flexible PTO
  • Training and professional development
  • Mentorship and career development opportunities

Eligibility

Because the position can involve access to systems and information covered by U.S. critical-infrastructure regulations, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the applicable requirements.

This includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, asylees and refugees.
