The Role: Product Designer, Grafana IRM
As a Product Designer on the Incident Response Management (IRM) team, you’ll craft intuitive, reliable user experiences for engineers responding to critical software incidents. You'll help build tools that support users working under stress — often in the middle of the night — so clarity, simplicity, and usability matter more than ever.
You’ll join a fully remote design team of 25+ professionals spread across six continents, working closely with cross-functional partners in engineering, product, research, and community.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end design process for Grafana IRM products.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, writers, and researchers to ship thoughtful, high-impact solutions.
- Run user research (formative and evaluative), working with both customers and the open-source community.
- Translate complex technical workflows into clear, scalable, and user-friendly interfaces.
- Document your design decisions, trade-offs, and design rationale clearly for collaborators and stakeholders.
- Deeply understand the workflows of incident responders, and design with empathy for users who may be stressed, tired, or troubleshooting critical outages.
You’ll Thrive Here If You Have…
- Experience designing developer tools or products for technical audiences.
- A portfolio demonstrating your impact on business goals or key metrics in complex SaaS products.
- Confidence balancing product priorities, user feedback, and technical constraints.
- Experience working in fast-paced, distributed, remote teams.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, transparent work style.
- A growth mindset, with a desire to learn from others and mentor peers.
Nice to Have
- Experience with incident management workflows or tools.
- Background in observability, infrastructure, cloud, or cybersecurity.
- Mobile or chat-based product design experience (ChatOps).
- Real-life experience in high-pressure response roles (e.g. firefighter, paramedic, disaster relief).
