Splitwise is growing our product design team! We're looking for a talented designer who’s passionate about creating delightful, intuitive, and accessible experiences for millions of users around the world.

As a Product Designer at Splitwise, you'll play a key role in shaping how people track shared expenses with friends, roommates, and loved ones. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and design teammates to create seamless features and refine our apps across iOS, Android, and web. Our mission? To reduce the stress of money between people through thoughtful, human-centered design—and maybe even a few surprise moments of joy (yes, we’re talking confetti and hidden kittens đŸ±).

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with leadership, product managers, engineers, and fellow designers.
  • Design and iterate user-friendly, inclusive features for our mobile and web platforms.
  • Contribute to the overall product strategy and maintain visual consistency across the Splitwise ecosystem.
  • Use data, research, and user feedback to guide design decisions and refine the user experience.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest design patterns for iOS, Android, and responsive web.
  • Participate in all phases of the design process—from initial ideas to launch-ready UI.

What We’re Looking For

  • You love working on a collaborative team and bring empathy and respect to your work.
  • You have strong communication skills—both visually and verbally—and can clearly explain your design decisions.
  • You're fluent in Figma and can craft polished, high-fidelity mockups.
  • You’ve designed for mobile apps and are familiar with platform-specific best practices on iOS and Android.
  • You care deeply about usability and accessibility, and aim for clarity in every interaction.
  • You have a degree in Design, HCI, Fine Arts, or equivalent experience.

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

We don’t expect you to check all of these boxes—but if you have strengths in any of the following, we’d love to hear about them:

  • Front-end skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
  • Illustration or motion design
  • Content design or UX writing
  • Graphic design for marketing
  • Brand design

What You’ll Learn

  • How to design a financial product that feels clear, safe, and friendly—even for users who dislike math.
  • How to solve socially awkward UX challenges around shared money.
  • How to use qualitative and quantitative feedback to improve your work.
  • How to balance internationalization, accessibility, and technical constraints.
  • How a small, transparent startup works from the inside out.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $139,000–$176,000/year (based on experience)
  • Equity: Stock options
  • Health Benefits: Top-tier healthcare (100% covered for you, 50% for dependents)
  • Time Off: 4–6 weeks of paid vacation
  • Parental Leave: 12+ weeks paid
  • 401(k): With employer match
  • Work Flexibility: Remote-first with options for in-office or co-working support
  • Learning Budget: Conference passes, courses, or tools for your professional growth
  • Annual Retreats: In-person get-togethers with the team

If you're excited to design meaningful experiences that reduce financial stress—and have a little fun along the way—we'd love to meet you.
