About the Role

As a Senior Staff Product Designer on the Gusto Pro team, you will lead the design direction for a product area within Gusto Pro. You’ll be involved across the product lifecycle—from research and vision-setting to iteration and launch. As part of a cross-functional leadership team, you will play a key role in shaping strategy and ensuring high-quality user experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Define a long-term UX vision for your product area in alignment with Gusto Pro’s broader goals.
  • Co-lead the definition of product strategy, roadmap, OKRs, and project direction.
  • Collaborate with partners in UX Research, Data Science, and Customer Support to understand customer problems and identify opportunities.
  • Deliver both new and iterative projects that provide value to customers.
  • Contribute to Gusto’s design leadership community by sharing expertise.
  • Champion the design system and platform standards, contributing to their evolution.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience, ideally in B2B SaaS. Experience in accounting-related domains (finance, payroll, benefits) is a plus.
  • Experience leading design direction at the product or group level, with examples of building alignment and setting strategy.
  • Ability to design approachable, guiding experiences in complex domains.
  • Strong product acumen and ability to influence business and product strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance design quality with iterative shipping to deliver customer value.
  • Interest in or experience with AI-driven product design.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Cash compensation range:
    • Denver & most remote U.S. locations: $146,000 – $183,000/year
    • San Francisco, Seattle & New York: $177,000 – $222,000/year
  • Final offer depends on experience and qualifications.
  • Equity-based compensation (ownership in Gusto).
