The Role
We’re seeking a Product Designer passionate about AI to help build the next generation of AI-powered software development tools. You’ll collaborate closely with Senior and Staff Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, UX Researchers, and Technical Writers to design features like Duo Chat, Code Suggestions, and Duo Workflow.
This is a high-impact role for someone who:
- Has AI product design experience (e.g., chatbots, natural language models, recommendation systems)
- Deeply empathizes with developer personas and other SDLC roles like Product Managers and Developer Team Leads
- Thrives in a fast-changing environment and can dig into technical details when needed
What You’ll Do
- Design cutting-edge AI features that help developers build better software.
- Contribute to and expand the Pajamas Design System by creating reusable components.
- Support research and design efforts for AI-driven products like Duo Workflow (AI agents across SDLC) and Duo Chat (GitLab’s AI-powered assistant).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver seamless, user-centric experiences.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience designing AI-powered products and tools.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps and the SDLC.
- Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Research).
- Experience conducting user research and making data-informed design decisions.
- Enterprise experience is a plus.
- Passion for designing user-friendly, impactful AI experiences.

Salary Range
- $100,000 – $155,000 USD (location dependent)
