Product Designer, Design, Dev & AI Tools — Figma

Figma
USA Only
Full-time
Apply
This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

Figma is looking for Product Designers who enjoy working where design, technology and emerging AI capabilities intersect. These openings span multiple areas of the product, including the Figma Editor, AI, Interactivity, Design Systems and developer-focused tools, with seniority varying across teams.

The role is particularly suited to designers who are comfortable going beyond visual execution: understanding complex systems, experimenting through prototypes and collaborating closely with engineering to determine how new product experiences should actually work.

What you'll be working on

You'll help shape both individual product experiences and broader product direction at Figma. Depending on the team, that could involve improving core creation workflows, exploring new AI-assisted experiences or designing tools that bring designers and developers closer together.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking product ideas from early exploration through shipped experiences.
  • Creating user flows, interactive prototypes and polished interface designs.
  • Working closely with Product, Engineering, Research and other designers.
  • Helping define product opportunities and communicating the thinking behind design decisions.
  • Simplifying technically complex or ambiguous problems into understandable experiences.
  • Designing and shipping improvements across Figma's core product surfaces.
  • Participating in critiques and contributing to the wider design team's practices and standards.
  • Supporting other designers through feedback, knowledge sharing and mentorship.

What Figma is looking for

You should have at least 3 years of experience designing UX and UI for software products, ideally involving products with meaningful technical or interaction complexity.

Figma is looking for designers with strong visual craft across areas such as typography, composition and layout, combined with excellent interaction design and prototyping skills.

You should also be comfortable independently leading the design process from discovery through launch, balancing user needs with technical realities and business priorities.

The role requires someone who can bring structure to unclear problems, explain design decisions convincingly and use research and experimentation to guide product decisions.

Importantly, Figma is also interested in candidates who have researched, prototyped or built experiences using AI or other emerging technologies, particularly when exploring new approaches to creativity and collaboration.

Technical experience that can help

You don't need to be a developer, but technical fluency can strengthen your application.

Useful additional experience includes:

  • HTML and CSS.
  • Building websites or applications.
  • A hybrid design/development background.
  • Advanced Figma capabilities such as Variables, Components and Auto Layout.
  • Prototyping tools such as Origami.
  • Canvas-based products or creative software.
  • Creating or contributing to design systems.

Why this role stands out

Figma sits at an interesting intersection between product design, software development and AI. Rather than designing a conventional SaaS interface, you'll be working on tools used by other designers and product teams to create software themselves.

The company is also actively exploring how AI can become part of those workflows, making prior experimentation with AI-powered products particularly relevant.

Because this listing covers openings across several Figma teams and seniority levels, the specific product area and scope will be discussed during the interview process.

Compensation & benefits

The listed US annual base salary range is:

$169,000–$303,000 USD

Final compensation depends on factors including experience, qualifications, role scope, expected impact and location.

Figma also offers equity and a broader benefits package that can include medical, dental and vision coverage, retirement contributions, parental and family-planning support, mental-health and wellness benefits, paid leave, flexible PTO for eligible employees, recharge days, internet and phone reimbursement, and lifestyle spending accounts.

Build stronger AI product design skills

This is a particularly strong job for a contextual Designlab placement because Figma explicitly wants designers who have experimented with AI and emerging tools.
