This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

Onebrief is hiring a Senior AI Product Designer to own major areas of its product experience and help define how AI should work inside software used for military planning and operational coordination.

This is a senior, highly autonomous design role. You'll investigate complex user workflows, determine how those needs should translate into product behavior, make decisions about speed versus quality, and work closely with Product and Engineering to ship.

AI expertise is fundamental to the position. Onebrief wants someone who has already helped bring a significant AI-powered workflow into a SaaS product and understands the emerging interaction patterns behind AI-native experiences.

The position is remote within the United States and offers a salary range of $160K–$230K.

Own a product area from user problem to shipped experience

You'll take responsibility for the UX of a defined area of Onebrief's product.

Rather than receiving narrowly defined design tasks, you'll help determine:

  • What users actually need
  • How workflows should operate
  • Which interactions best support those workflows
  • What level of fidelity a release requires
  • Where speed matters more than additional polish
  • Which patterns should become reusable across the product

You'll partner closely with Product while maintaining substantial ownership over the experience itself.

Onebrief is specifically looking for someone comfortable making difficult quality, scope, speed and fidelity trade-offs — and capable of clearly explaining those decisions to the rest of the team.

Understand complex users and workflows

Design decisions at Onebrief depend on understanding how military planners operate in real-world environments.

You'll spend time directly with users to understand their processes, constraints and organizational context.

That includes:

  • Conducting direct user research
  • Mapping complex workflows
  • Identifying essential user goals
  • Understanding operational constraints
  • Documenting findings for other teams
  • Translating research into product decisions

Your research shouldn't disappear inside a presentation. One measure of success will be whether the knowledge you document actually helps other designers and collaborators make better decisions.

Design AI-native product experiences

AI isn't treated as an optional bonus skill in this position.

Onebrief expects you to understand AI interaction patterns well enough to decide when they genuinely improve an experience — and when they don't.

You'll evaluate emerging AI UX approaches and determine which patterns are appropriate for different product problems.

The company is looking for someone who has already:

  • Led the design of a significant AI-powered SaaS workflow
  • Worked with emerging AI UX patterns
  • Used AI tools extensively within the design process
  • Developed more than surface-level prompting knowledge
  • Built an intermediate understanding of foundational models and their limitations
  • Considered the trade-offs involved in AI-powered experiences

You'll combine those capabilities with established UX/UI principles rather than treating AI as a replacement for traditional Product Design.

Use AI inside your own design workflow

Onebrief also expects AI to influence how you design, not only what you design.

You'll combine traditional design methods with AI-native workflows, moving between rapid exploration and deeper design work depending on what a project requires.

That could involve using AI to accelerate:

  • Exploration
  • Iteration
  • Prototyping
  • Documentation
  • Analysis
  • Design decision-making

You'll document design intent for both human collaborators and agentic tools, making written communication an increasingly important part of the design process.

Help shape Onebrief's design language

Your influence will extend beyond individual features.

You'll make pattern decisions within your product area and contribute to a broader design language that keeps experiences consistent across Onebrief.

Experience with design systems, reusable interaction patterns and cross-product consistency is therefore particularly valuable.

Onebrief also considers it a plus if you've contributed to the wider design-systems community.

What they're looking for

There's no simple years-of-experience requirement listed. Instead, Onebrief is looking for evidence that you've already operated with substantial Product Design ownership.

You should be able to demonstrate:

  • End-to-end ownership of a significant product area or workflow
  • Strong UX/UI fundamentals
  • Direct user research experience
  • Workflow mapping
  • Ability to translate user needs into interface behavior
  • Strong interaction design judgment
  • Experience making and communicating product trade-offs
  • Experience shipping a major AI-powered SaaS workflow
  • Knowledge of emerging AI UX patterns
  • Advanced use of AI design tools
  • Understanding of foundational AI models and their trade-offs
  • Strong written and visual design documentation
  • Ability to work independently with Product and Engineering

This is not an introductory AI position. Onebrief is looking for a designer who can contribute quickly without extensive onboarding.

Additional experience that could strengthen your application

Onebrief also values experience with:

  • Design systems
  • Pattern libraries
  • Accessibility
  • Interaction design
  • Cross-product consistency
  • AI-assisted team workflows
  • Improving how design teams use AI
  • Sharing design-system knowledge with the wider community

Particularly valuable is evidence that you've helped other designers or teams become more effective with AI, rather than using the technology exclusively within your own workflow.

What success looks like

Within the first several months, the successful designer should be capable of independently driving UX decisions for their area and becoming a trusted partner to Product and Engineering.

That means shipping meaningful work, making well-reasoned trade-offs and contributing to a more cohesive product experience.

Onebrief also expects AI to produce tangible benefits in the designer's work — improving speed or quality rather than being added simply because AI is available.
