This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

OpenTrain AI is looking for a Senior Artist & Graphic Designer to create character-driven illustrations and visual assets that will contribute to the training and evaluation of AI models.

This worldwide remote opportunity combines illustration, graphic design and artificial intelligence, giving visual creatives the chance to apply their craft to real AI training projects. You'll work across multiple artistic styles while documenting the prompts, processes and metadata behind the assets you create.

What you'll be creating

You'll translate detailed creative briefs into polished visual assets while experimenting across different styles and maintaining consistency between variations.

Your work will include:

  • Creating original character-driven illustrations and graphic assets.
  • Working across cartoon, comic, manga, anime, pop art, sticker and sketching styles.
  • Producing multiple visual variations while maintaining consistency in style and composition.
  • Applying strong principles of color, lighting, line work, texture and visual balance.
  • Documenting prompts, creative workflows and asset metadata.
  • Refining visual outputs based on calibration and project feedback.
  • Collaborating with other contributors while meeting project deadlines.

What they're looking for

OpenTrain is looking for artists and designers with practical experience in illustration, cartooning, visual art or similar creative work.

You should have:

  • Strong command of Procreate, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
  • A portfolio demonstrating versatility across multiple digital illustration styles.
  • A strong understanding of composition, color theory, lighting, line work and textures.
  • The ability to adapt to different artistic directions while maintaining visual consistency.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills.
  • The ability to clearly document creative processes and asset information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Illustration, Visual Communication or a related discipline can be helpful, but the quality and range of your portfolio are particularly important.

Creating visual data for AI

This isn't a traditional graphic design assignment.

The illustrations and assets you create will become examples used to evaluate and fine-tune AI systems. Alongside producing the artwork itself, you'll document the prompts and workflows behind it so that the resulting visual data can be structured and used effectively for AI training.

For designers and illustrators interested in the intersection of creative work and machine learning, the role provides hands-on exposure to how human-created visual content contributes to modern AI systems.
