Own product design from discovery to launch
Aligned is looking for a Senior Product Designer to lead design within multidisciplinary product teams and work directly with clients on meaningful digital products.
This is a hands-on role combining product strategy, UX research, interaction design, prototyping, visual design, and design systems. You’ll have significant ownership over the products you work on, taking complex ideas from early discovery through launch and continued iteration.
The company is particularly interested in designers who care deeply about craft but also know when to move quickly, test an idea, and focus attention on the decisions that will have the greatest impact.
What you'll be doing
As the primary design voice within your Squad, you'll collaborate closely with clients, Product, and Engineering throughout the development process.
Your work will include:
- Leading product design from initial discovery through final delivery.
- Understanding client objectives, user needs, technical constraints, and business requirements.
- Creating user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and polished interfaces.
- Tackling 0-to-1 product challenges and turning ambiguous problems into understandable experiences.
- Conducting or guiding user research and usability testing.
- Using research findings and product data to validate and improve design decisions.
- Building and evolving scalable design systems and component libraries.
- Collaborating closely with engineers to ensure the shipped experience maintains the intended design quality.
- Presenting concepts and product decisions directly to clients and stakeholders.
- Explaining the rationale behind your work using evidence, user needs, and product objectives.
- Iterating on products after launch based on feedback and usage.
- Participating in design critiques and helping strengthen Aligned's wider design practice.
- Moving comfortably between larger strategic projects and smaller UI improvements when needed.
What they're looking for
Aligned wants a designer capable of combining strong visual execution with thoughtful UX and product judgment.
You should bring:
- 4+ years of hands-on product design experience.
- Experience owning complete design processes rather than individual stages.
- A track record of taking digital products from concept through launch.
- Experience with 0-to-1 product development.
- Advanced knowledge of Figma and modern product design tools.
- Strong prototyping capabilities.
- Excellent interaction and visual design fundamentals.
- Experience creating and maintaining design systems and component libraries.
- Practical knowledge of user research and usability testing.
- The ability to synthesize research into useful product decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Confidence presenting work directly to clients.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience working within distributed product teams.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
A university degree is not required.
Design systems and craft
You'll be expected to think beyond individual screens.
Aligned wants designers who can create reusable components, patterns, and systems that maintain consistency as products become larger and more complex.
At the same time, visual craft matters. From interaction details to final UI execution, you'll help establish the quality bar for the products your Squad delivers.
Work directly with clients
This is also a particularly client-facing Product Design position.
Rather than receiving requirements several layers removed from the customer, you'll work directly with clients to understand what they're trying to accomplish and help determine the right product direction.
That requires the confidence to present, explain, challenge, and defend design decisions while remaining open to feedback and changing direction when the evidence supports it.
Remote working
Aligned operates remotely and considers candidates across:
- United States
- Canada
- Mexico
- South America
Candidates should be able to maintain working hours reasonably aligned with the Pacific Time (PST) zone.
The company is open to different working arrangements, including full-time employment, contractor, and fractional opportunities.
Important note about this opening
This is an evergreen position.
Aligned continuously reviews applications from strong Product Designers, but there may not be an immediate vacancy when you apply. Candidates are considered on a rolling basis as new opportunities become available.
