Senior Product Designer

GoGuardian is hiring a Senior Product Designer to take ownership of the user experience for one of its newest products in the K–12 education and digital safety space.

The role sits within GoGuardian's New Products team, a small senior group that operates with considerable independence inside the wider company. The team has already launched two products into schools recently and is continuing to develop new experiences.

Rather than moving between many unrelated initiatives, you'll concentrate deeply on one product and guide its design from early strategic decisions through interaction design, visual execution, launch, and continued improvement.

What You'll Do

You'll serve as the primary design owner for your product while working closely with product management, engineering, and GoGuardian's Lead UX Designer.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading UX and product design from initial exploration through shipped experiences.
• Establishing design direction based on customer problems and product objectives.
• Turning complicated workflows, information, and data into experiences that are easier to understand and act upon.
• Working directly with product managers and senior engineers throughout discovery and implementation.
• Making pragmatic design trade-offs while supporting a fast shipping cadence.
• Learning from actual users and incorporating both qualitative and quantitative evidence into design decisions.
• Translating research and product insights into clear UX direction.
• Producing polished interaction and visual design.
• Sharing work early, gathering feedback, and building alignment across the team.
• Collaborating with the Lead UX Designer to maintain quality and consistency across GoGuardian's emerging product portfolio.
• Contributing ideas and constructive critique to the wider design practice.

What They're Looking For

GoGuardian wants a designer who has already taken meaningful ownership of real software products.

Strong candidates should have:

• Experience designing and shipping live digital products.
• At least one substantial project or product taken end-to-end from concept to launch.
• Experience owning design for a product or major product area.
• Strong product and UX judgment when working through ambiguous problems.
• The ability to connect design decisions with user needs, product objectives, and business outcomes.
• Strong interaction-design skills.
• High-quality visual-design craft and attention to detail.
• Experience simplifying complex workflows, information, or systems.
• Confidence collaborating directly with product managers and engineers.
• The ability to explain design decisions and build support for a proposed direction.
• Experience incorporating user research, customer feedback, and data into product decisions.

Candidates should expect to discuss not only what appears in their portfolio, but what they personally designed, how they influenced the product, and what happened after launch.

Education Technology Experience

Previous K–12 or EdTech experience is not required.

Experience in the sector is useful, but GoGuardian places greater emphasis on strong product-design experience and genuine interest in creating safer and more effective digital environments for schools.

The Design Environment

This is a relatively autonomous Senior Product Designer position, but it isn't an isolated design role.

You'll report to and work closely with a Lead UX Designer, providing access to regular design feedback and coaching while retaining significant ownership over your product.

The New Products team also keeps its processes intentionally lightweight. Designers collaborate with product and engineering from the beginning rather than completing design work separately and handing it over later.

Compensation

Base salary: $145,000–$165,000 USD/year

Final compensation depends on factors including location, experience, qualifications, and skills.
