Tilt is a financial technology company building mobile-first credit products designed to assess customers using a broader picture of their financial activity.

Its technology combines machine-learning credit models with more than 250 real-time financial signals, aiming to expand access to financial products beyond traditional credit-score-based approaches.

The company operates as a distributed, virtual-first organization with team members across multiple countries and time zones.

About the Role

Tilt is hiring a Senior Product Designer to own high-impact experiences across its financial product ecosystem.

You'll work on areas that may include cash management, financial wellness, transactions, and related financial tools, taking projects from early exploration through launch and iteration.

This is an individual contributor position requiring both strong product and UX thinking and a high level of visual and UI craft.

You'll work directly with product managers and engineers to turn ambiguous opportunities and complex financial concepts into experiences customers can understand and use confidently.

What You'll Do

  • Own end-to-end design across a significant part of Tilt's product ecosystem.
  • Take projects from early discovery and exploration through launch and iteration.
  • Simplify complex financial concepts and workflows.
  • Create polished interaction and visual designs.
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering throughout development.
  • Use research, product data, business context, and design judgment to guide decisions.
  • Explore ambiguous problems and evaluate different product directions.
  • Advocate for customer needs and high design quality.
  • Help establish and evolve UI patterns across the product.
  • Present concepts and design rationale to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Participate in design critiques and contribute to the team's design culture.
  • Mentor and support other designers.
  • Use AI-enabled tools where they can meaningfully improve the design process.

What They're Looking For

Tilt is looking for an experienced Product Designer who has successfully designed and shipped complex digital products.

Candidates should bring:

  • Significant professional Product Design experience.
  • A portfolio demonstrating both UX thinking and polished UI execution.
  • Strong interaction-design fundamentals.
  • Excellent visual-design craft and attention to detail.
  • Experience owning complex or ambiguous product areas.
  • Close collaboration with Product Management and Engineering.
  • Experience using research and data to inform design decisions.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to explain and defend design decisions while remaining collaborative.
  • Confidence making product decisions when there isn't an obvious solution.
  • Practical familiarity with AI tools used within Product Design workflows.

Experience in fintech isn't mandatory, although backgrounds in financial services, commerce, transportation, or other complex product environments are particularly relevant.

AI in the Design Workflow

Tilt specifically expects designers to have practical familiarity with AI tools and an informed perspective on where they can improve product-design work.

The company also emphasizes maintaining human judgment and customer needs when incorporating AI into the process.

Unlike some of the AI-heavy positions we've seen, this isn't an AI prototyping specialist role. Instead, AI fluency is becoming part of the broader Senior Product Designer skill set.

Nice to Have

Additional relevant experience includes:

  • Consumer fintech products.
  • Banking or cash-management experiences.
  • Budgeting and financial-wellness products.
  • Payments.
  • Design systems.
  • Working within evolving or changing product organizations.

What Success Looks Like

Initially, you'll focus on understanding Tilt's customers, financial products, and business while establishing strong relationships with Product, Engineering, and Design.

As you develop ownership of your product area, you'll be expected to raise the overall quality of the customer experience and help the team make stronger product decisions through research, craft, and product judgment.

Compensation & Benefits

The listed compensation range is:

$164,000–$205,000

Tilt also highlights:

  • Equity.
  • Virtual-first working.
  • Work-from-home office reimbursement.
  • Flexible health plans and subsidies.
  • Direct access to company leadership.
  • Company-paid global team gatherings twice per year.
  • Career progression based on contribution and impact.
