Senior Product Designer

Miaplaza is looking for a Senior Product Designer with strong illustration and motion skills to shape the learning experience across its education products.

This is an end-to-end Product Design role combining UX, visual craft, motion and AI-assisted creative production. You'll work directly on digital learning experiences used by more than 150,000 students, while establishing the illustration and motion standards that influence Miaplaza's wider product ecosystem.

The position is fully remote across EMEA within approximately two hours of Central European Time.

What You'll Work On

Miaplaza develops digital education products for students aged 4–18, including Miacademy, MiaPrep and its online high school.

The company wants to push its products beyond functional learning experiences by introducing richer illustration, purposeful motion and more memorable interactions.

You'll own Product Design across the student learning experience, working closely with a Product Manager and Engineering Manager from early problem definition through final delivery.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing student experiences from discovery through implementation.
• Turning complex educational requirements into engaging digital interactions.
• Bringing illustration and motion deeper into the product experience.
• Establishing illustration standards and visual direction across Miaplaza products.
• Defining principles for motion, transitions and character behavior.
• Collaborating directly with Product and Engineering on technical and product trade-offs.
• Contributing to product strategy rather than simply executing predefined design tasks.
• Helping other designers apply illustration and motion consistently across the product ecosystem.
• Ensuring creative decisions work within real technical, pedagogical and business constraints.

AI-Assisted Creative Production

An important part of this position is figuring out how AI can increase creative output without sacrificing design quality.

You'll art-direct AI-assisted illustration and motion production, creating the systems that allow a relatively small team to produce visual assets at greater scale.

That may involve:

• Developing prompts and creative references.
• Establishing standards for AI-generated visual work.
• Reviewing and refining AI-assisted output.
• Creating repeatable production workflows.
• Using AI image and motion tools as creative accelerators.
• Determining where human craft and judgment remain essential.

Miaplaza isn't looking for someone who simply accepts whatever an AI tool generates. The emphasis is on taste, direction and the ability to control the quality of the final result.

What You'll Need

To be considered, you should have:

• A portfolio containing real digital products that have shipped, rather than only concepts or standalone visual work.
• At least 2 years working within a product team alongside Product Managers and Engineers.
• Strong illustration or motion design capabilities.
• At least one year with illustration or motion as a significant part of your professional craft.
• Strong Figma skills.
• Some experience directing visual work created by other people or through AI tools.

• Motion design for digital products, including interactions, transitions, onboarding and character animation.
• AI image-generation or motion tools used within production workflows.
• Conducting your own usability research.
• Designing across multiple brands.
• Experience with education products.
• Accessibility expertise, particularly when designing for neurodivergent users.

Miaplaza is looking for someone comfortable taking ownership of ambiguous product problems rather than waiting for tightly defined design tasks.

The company also explicitly wants designers who see AI neither as a replacement for creative craft nor as an easy shortcut, but as another tool that can be directed thoughtfully.

The Design Team

You'll join a small, experienced design organization of approximately five designers.

Different members of the team bring expertise across areas such as brand, research and design systems. Your particular craft leadership will center around illustration and motion.

You'll report to the Head of UX, with opportunities to develop further into craft leadership, broader product influence or a combination of both.

Hiring Process

Miaplaza uses a multi-stage remote hiring process:

1. Application and eligibility review.
2. Approximately 30-minute scenario-based assessment.
3. Three written questions for candidates who qualify.
4. Portfolio review by the design team.
5. Behavioral interview.
6. Approximately 60-minute take-home design exercise — AI tools are encouraged.
7. Interview with the hiring team and Head of UX.
8. Conversation with executive leadership.
9. Reference checks.

Salary & Remote Setup

€60,000–€90,000 per year

Final compensation depends on experience, demonstrated skills, internal equity and the candidate's local market.

The position is:

• Full-time, 40 hours per week.
• 100% remote across eligible EMEA locations.
• Designed around CET ±2 hours.
• Supported by occasional in-person team gatherings during the year.
