Netflix is looking for a Senior Product Designer, Emerging Creative to join its Emerging Creative Experience Design (ECXD) team — a multidisciplinary group exploring how product design, visual storytelling, motion, audio, and emerging technology can come together across the Netflix experience.
This is not a conventional Product Design position. Netflix is looking for someone who can move between UX, visual design, brand, prototyping, and entertainment-focused storytelling, creating everything from scalable product interfaces to highly conceptual experiences that explore what Netflix could become next.
You'll design across TV, mobile, and web, collaborating with specialists in motion, video, audio, engineering, research, and design systems.
What You'll Do
- Design high-quality product experiences across Netflix's TV, mobile, and web platforms.
- Translate product and business objectives into engaging, intuitive visual experiences.
- Explore new ways of presenting entertainment and content through interaction and storytelling.
- Create both forward-looking concepts and production-ready product experiences.
- Develop ideas from early sketches and wireframes through polished UI and high-fidelity prototypes.
- Build immersive prototypes that communicate potential future Netflix experiences.
- Work with motion, video, and audio specialists to bring multimedia concepts to life.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Research, and Design Systems throughout the product development process.
- Design experiences that work within technical constraints while maintaining a high level of visual craft.
- Develop reusable visual frameworks, guidelines, and systems that can scale across different Netflix surfaces.
- Produce a wide variety of design artifacts, including prototypes, mockups, research stimuli, videos, promotional concepts, and presentations.
- Use visual storytelling to communicate product ideas and build alignment across teams.
Product Design Meets Entertainment
The ECXD team operates at the intersection of digital product design and entertainment.
Some projects may involve exploring an ambitious future experience through cinematic prototypes and storytelling. Others may require designing a feature that needs to integrate cleanly into Netflix's existing product ecosystem and design system.
The role therefore requires someone comfortable moving between conceptual experimentation and practical product execution.
What They're Looking For
Netflix is looking for a designer who combines strong Product Design capabilities with brand, entertainment, or content-focused creative experience.
You'll need:
- Exceptional visual and interaction design craft.
- Strong UX and strategic product thinking.
- Experience creating ambitious product concepts grounded in real user needs.
- A high level of attention to typography, composition, interaction, and visual detail.
- Experience shipping sophisticated digital products.
- Ability to work effectively within technical constraints.
- Strong collaboration skills across different creative and technical disciplines.
- Experience working with motion, audio, video, or other multimedia specialists.
- Confidence navigating ambiguous problems and establishing a clear creative direction.
- Strong presentation and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to explain and defend design decisions to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Advanced Figma knowledge.
- Practical experience using AI design tools to accelerate workflows and improve creative output.
- A strong interest in entertainment, storytelling, and content-rich digital experiences.
Prototyping & Creative Technology
Advanced prototyping experience can be particularly valuable for this position.
Relevant tools and capabilities include:
- Figma and Figma Motion
- ProtoPie
- Principle
- After Effects
- Rive
- Lottie
Experience experimenting with real-time technologies such as Unreal Engine, Unity, or WebGL is also considered a plus.
Netflix is particularly interested in designers who can use prototypes not simply to demonstrate a finished interface, but to explore and communicate entirely new product experiences.
AI in the Design Workflow
AI is also becoming part of the creative process within this role.
Netflix expects the designer to be comfortable using AI-enabled design tools as part of everyday exploration and production, finding opportunities to work faster while maintaining a high standard of creative judgment and execution.
Who This Role Could Suit
This could be an especially strong opportunity for a senior designer whose portfolio sits somewhere between Product Designer, Visual Designer, and Creative Technologist.
It's less about specializing exclusively in traditional UX flows and more about combining strong product thinking with exceptional visual craft, interaction, motion, multimedia, and storytelling.
Experience influencing creative vision or contributing to strategic product roadmaps would further strengthen your profile.
Compensation & Benefits
The advertised compensation range is $350,000–$520,000, with the final amount depending on factors including experience, skills, and location.
Netflix's compensation model allows employees to determine how much of their compensation they receive as salary versus stock options.
The benefits package includes healthcare coverage, mental health support, 401(k) with employer match, stock options, flexible time off for salaried employees, family-forming benefits, disability programs, and additional health and financial benefits.
