The Opportunity
Magnet Forensics is seeking a Senior UI Designer to lead the design of engaging, intuitive interfaces for its suite of digital products. In this role, you’ll define design strategies, mentor junior designers, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver thoughtful, user-centered solutions.
This position is open to candidates based in Canada and offers a chance to contribute to tools that make a real impact in the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design of user interfaces and interactions from concept to delivery, including wireframes, prototypes, and usability testing.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to guide design decisions and improve product usability.
- Generate and explore multiple design ideas to uncover the best solutions.
- Create design artifacts such as user flows, storyboards, and detailed mockups.
- Support and evolve the company’s design system, ensuring visual and functional consistency across all products.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other designers to align design solutions with business and user needs.
- Share feedback and mentor other designers to raise the overall quality of design output.
- Advocate for user-centered design practices across teams.
- Stay informed about industry trends and emerging design techniques.
- Occasionally travel (5–10%) for customer research or team collaboration.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in UI Design, Digital Design, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in UI design, including work on web or desktop applications.
- Strong understanding of visual design principles, including hierarchy, balance, and Gestalt theory.
- Ability to communicate design ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions.
- Proven problem-solving skills and a user-first approach.
- Adaptable, collaborative, and capable of working in a dynamic environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for accessibility and WCAG compliance.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools or workflows.
