HubSpot is looking for a Senior UI Designer I to define the visual direction of major digital experiences across its Marketing organization.

This is a senior craft-focused position for a designer who can take complicated product and business requirements and turn them into clear, expressive and accessible interfaces.

You'll work from early visual concepts through high-fidelity interaction design and final implementation, while helping HubSpot evolve the reusable systems and standards behind its digital ecosystem.

AI is also becoming part of the workflow: HubSpot wants designers who can use AI-assisted creative tools to explore and iterate faster without sacrificing human judgment or design quality.

Lead the visual direction of major experiences

You'll take ownership of visual design across significant Marketing initiatives and digital experiences.

Rather than simply executing an established direction, you'll help determine what that direction should be.

Your work will involve translating:

  • User needs
  • Business objectives
  • Brand strategy
  • Accessibility requirements
  • Technical constraints

into polished digital experiences.

You'll move between conceptual exploration and detailed execution, maintaining a consistent design vision as projects progress toward launch.

Push visual craft to a high standard

Visual design quality is central to this role.

HubSpot wants someone with strong judgment across:

  • Typography
  • Composition
  • Layout
  • Visual hierarchy
  • Imagery
  • Responsive design
  • Interaction
  • Detail states
  • Accessibility
  • UI polish

Your portfolio should demonstrate not only attractive interfaces, but thoughtful decisions about how visual design improves usability, communication and the overall experience.

Want to take your visual design craft further?

Designlab's Advanced Design Craft is designed for experienced designers who want to strengthen the visual quality and intentionality of their digital work.

For designers targeting roles like this one, its focus on areas such as typography, layout, hierarchy and UI refinement makes it particularly relevant.

Build systems, not isolated screens

You'll also help create and evolve the foundations that allow HubSpot's digital experiences to scale.

That includes:

  • Reusable components
  • Design patterns
  • UI standards
  • Visual guidelines
  • Accessibility standards
  • Responsive behaviors

You'll think about consistency across a large digital ecosystem rather than treating every project as an independent design exercise.

Experience creating and evolving design systems and component libraries is therefore an important requirement.

Prototype complex interactions

HubSpot expects a high level of prototyping ability.

You'll create high-fidelity prototypes that communicate more than static screen layouts, including:

  • Complex user flows
  • Responsive behavior
  • Transitions
  • Interaction states
  • Motion
  • Animation

These prototypes will help designers, engineers and other stakeholders understand how an experience should actually behave before implementation.

Motion shouldn't simply make an interface more visually impressive. HubSpot wants it used purposefully to improve feedback, comprehension and hierarchy.

Bring AI into your design workflow

HubSpot specifically calls out AI-assisted design and creative tools as part of the role.

You'll explore ways AI can accelerate:

  • Ideation
  • Visual exploration
  • Iteration
  • Prototyping
  • Production
  • Documentation

But speed isn't the end goal.

HubSpot still expects the designer to maintain control over the final decisions, keeping user needs, accessibility, brand principles and design quality at the center of the process.

That makes AI fluency increasingly useful for this position without turning it into an AI-specific product design role.

Work across disciplines

You'll collaborate with teams across:

  • Marketing
  • Product
  • Engineering
  • Research
  • Brand
  • Content

At senior level, you'll also be expected to influence how other designers work.

That can include mentoring designers, contributing to critiques, improving design QA and helping establish stronger shared practices across the organization.

Strong presentation and communication skills are important because you'll regularly need to explain the reasoning behind your decisions and influence people outside your immediate team.

What HubSpot is looking for

Candidates should have 5–8 years of professional experience in UI design, visual design, product design or a closely related discipline.

Your experience should demonstrate strength in:

  • UI and visual design
  • Typography
  • Layout and composition
  • Visual hierarchy
  • Responsive interfaces
  • Design systems
  • Component patterns
  • High-fidelity prototyping
  • Interaction design
  • Accessibility
  • Inclusive design
  • User-centered design
  • Cross-functional collaboration

HubSpot also wants designers who have previously led the visual direction of complex projects or multiple workstreams.

A strong portfolio showing both visual craft and systematic design thinking will be essential.

Skills that could give you an advantage

Additional experience in the following areas could strengthen your application:

  • Motion design
  • Animation
  • Advanced interaction design
  • Complex prototyping
  • AI-assisted design tools
  • Front-end implementation constraints
  • Large-scale digital ecosystems
  • SaaS
  • Marketing websites

Understanding how responsive, accessible interfaces are ultimately implemented by engineers is also valuable.

About HubSpot

HubSpot develops an AI-powered customer platform connecting tools across areas including marketing, sales and customer service.

For this position, you'll be joining the Digital Design team and contributing to major digital and Marketing experiences while helping establish the visual systems that support them.

It's a role with substantial influence over both individual experiences and the broader quality and consistency of HubSpot's digital presence.

Compensation

HubSpot lists an annual cash compensation range of:

$136,100–$204,200 USD

Individual compensation depends on factors including experience, skills and qualifications.

Depending on eligibility, the broader compensation package may also include annual bonus opportunities and restricted stock units (RSUs).

HubSpot also provides employee benefits and operates with a flexible approach combining remote and office-based work depending on the employee and role.

For an experienced UI or visual designer, this is a particularly strong opportunity to combine high-level visual craft, design systems, interaction design and emerging AI-assisted workflows at the scale of a major SaaS company.
