Take a UX project from an unclear problem to a shipped product

NovoEd is looking for a Senior UX Designer to help shape the learning experiences used by large companies, universities, and professional training organizations.

The interesting part of this role is the level of ownership. Rather than joining a large design team and working on a narrow piece of a product, you'll typically lead one or two major initiatives yourself—from figuring out what problem should be solved to working with engineers on the final implementation.

NovoEd builds a talent development platform centered around collaborative and experiential learning. That creates design challenges beyond simply delivering online courses: the product needs to support learners, mentors, collaboration, coaching, and different organizational needs at scale.

What you'll work on

You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering while having considerable independence over the design process.

Your work will include:

  • Exploring product problems and turning ambiguous requirements into clear design directions.
  • Mapping user journeys and creating flows, wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready interfaces.
  • Exploring different approaches before recommending a direction to the product team.
  • Conducting user interviews and usability testing to validate ideas.
  • Designing responsive experiences across web and mobile.
  • Working with engineers to find the right balance between design quality and technical constraints.
  • Using and evolving NovoEd's existing design system.
  • Bringing accessibility and inclusive design principles into the product, including WCAG 2.1 considerations.
  • Helping resolve stakeholder disagreements or changing requirements when projects encounter obstacles.
  • Contributing to broader product strategy and roadmap conversations.

More than execution

NovoEd is specifically looking for a senior designer who can operate without constant direction.

You'll be expected to understand the underlying problem, challenge assumptions when necessary, communicate your reasoning, and keep projects moving even when the requirements aren't completely defined.

That makes strategic communication and cross-functional collaboration particularly important alongside traditional UX and UI skills.

What they're looking for

You'll need 5+ years of experience designing digital products used at scale, with a strong foundation across both UX thinking and visual execution.

NovoEd is looking for experience with:

  • Figma, including components and design libraries.
  • User flows, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI.
  • User interviews and usability testing.
  • Design systems and reusable interaction patterns.
  • Responsive web and mobile design.
  • Accessibility and inclusive design.
  • HTML/CSS fundamentals and an understanding of development constraints.
  • Strong visual design and attention to detail.

Experience designing AI-powered product features or using generative AI to accelerate the design process is a plus.

Compensation & benefits

The listed US salary range is $120,000–$135,000, plus a 10% bonus.

NovoEd also offers professional development support, flexible vacation, paid parental leave, healthcare coverage, and phone and internet reimbursements.

For a senior designer who wants real product ownership without moving completely away from hands-on UX work, this looks like a particularly interesting opportunity.
