Join Gusto as a Staff Content Designer and help shape the future of our platform experience.
As part of the Core Experiences team, you'll lead content strategy and design across key systems, partnering closely with design, engineering, data, and product to build clear, scalable, and human-centered experiences.

What you'll do:

  • Define and lead content design practices across the platform team.
  • Collaborate with designers and engineers to structure content hierarchies, taxonomies, and user flows.
  • Influence data models and APIs to support intuitive UX.
  • Ship high-quality UI content that supports both customers and internal teams.
  • Create and document platform-wide content standards and naming conventions.
  • Mentor teams on content best practices and help raise the content quality bar.

About the team:
Gusto’s Product Design organization includes over 60 designers, researchers, writers, and developers. The team is collaborative, mission-driven, and passionate about making complex tasks feel simple and even delightful. You'll be part of a culture that values empathy, inclusion, and continuous learning.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven ability to lead across multiple projects and prioritize for impact.
  • Experience designing and delivering user-facing features—not just frameworks or docs.
  • Strong background in information architecture, content strategy, and UX writing.
  • Platform experience or systems thinking, including content frameworks and scalable design.
  • A track record of raising content quality and helping others grow their content skills.

Salary & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $139,000–$199,000 (Denver & most remote U.S. locations)
  • $179,000–$221,000 (Seattle, San Francisco, New York)
  • Strong equity compensation and full benefits package

This is a high-impact role for a content designer who wants to shape how systems communicate—and how teams work together to create better experiences.
