Netflix is one of the most widely used entertainment platforms in the world, with millions of members watching content across every genre, language, and device. The team behind the experience is constantly improving how people browse, discover, and enjoy TV, film, and games.
This role sits on the Design Foundations team, a group that supports product teams across the company by building systems, tools, and standards for high-quality, scalable design. The TV design system—part of Netflix’s broader system, known internally as Hawkins—is a central piece of how teams deliver consistent experiences across devices.
Netflix is seeking an experienced System Designer to lead the evolution of the TV portion of this design system. You’ll define strategy, improve tooling, partner with engineering and leadership, and ensure the system continues to scale for a global audience.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with teams working on TV initiatives to align product work with the design system
- Define and guide the long-term strategy for the TV design system
- Shape updates, extensions, and new components that support evolving product needs
- Collaborate with senior leaders to align the system with product and engineering roadmaps
- Lead adoption strategies for major updates to system libraries
- Build and maintain standards, documentation, and workflows that teams can rely on
- Advocate for system best practices and support designers through hands-on guidance
- Improve workflows, tooling, and processes that power system development
- Promote accessibility and inclusive design in all system decisions
What You Bring
- 10+ years of experience as a Product Designer, with deep experience in design systems
- At least 7 years working directly on system-focused or multi-platform design initiatives
- Strong cross-platform expertise — ideally including TV, iOS, Android, and Web
- Experience using data and A/B testing to inform system decisions
- History of defining standards, scaling components, and driving system adoption
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to influence across teams and leadership levels
- Ability to break down complex problems and propose clear, scalable solutions
- Experience mentoring others and supporting system specialists across functions
- Comfort working with ambiguity, large-scale challenges, and fast-moving teams
- Deep knowledge of system tooling (Figma, design tokens, component libraries, Storybook, etc.)
- Strong understanding of accessibility best practices and inclusive design
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary only (no bonus plan)
- Candidates choose their preferred balance of salary vs. stock options each year
- Salary range: $240,000 – $725,000, depending on skills, experience, and market indicators
