Apply

Here at Shippo, we are the shipping layer of the internet and we consider ourselves to be one of the core building blocks of e-commerce.

Our mission is to make merchants successful through world class shipping. With our products and solutions, we level the playing field by providing our customers with best-in-class solutions that otherwise wouldn’t be available to them. Through Shippo, e-commerce businesses, marketplaces, platforms and a variety of logistics infrastructure providers are able to connect to shipping carriers around the world from one API and dashboard. We provide our customers with the most competitive shipping rates, print labels, automated international documents, shipment tracking, facilitate the returns process and more.

How we'll deliver success:

At Shippo, we aim to create the best shipping experience for our merchants. Every year, 100,000+ merchants ship millions of orders on the Shippo platform through our App for smaller shippers or our APIs for merchants of any size. As the Staff Product Designer, you and your team will work cross-functionally with go-to-market and product stakeholders to create efficient product experiences for SMB merchants, large warehouse shippers, international e-commerce platforms, and some of today's market's most popular,  fastest-growing marketplaces. You will focus on working with merchants to understand who they are and their business and fulfillment workflows and design sticky solutions that are trusted to handle growing shipment volumes. We want to help merchants and developers by enabling easy access to and managing carrier needs in markets worldwide while continuing to elevate Shippo’s brand with our in-house brand design team.

We are highly user-centric and always make product decisions by balancing insights from user research, customer data, and best practices. If you love moving fast, advocating for users, and making the complex feel simple, we’d love to meet you!

This role will report directly to the VP of Product.

Shipping & handling responsibilities:

  • Own and drive Shippo’s customer research strategy, developing and spreading a deep understanding of our shippers’ needs across GTM, product, and engineering teams.
  • Translate customer insights into creative and pragmatic design decisions, informed by user data and focused on achieving Shippo’s objectives.
  • Strategically balance the needs of the following within the complicated world of shipping: Sellers/Shippers, Buyers, Personal Shippers, Advanced Shippers (warehouse managers, 3PLs), postal carriers, Fulfillment Workers, and Developers.
  • Partner with product management, engineering, and product marketing as well as other cross-functional teams, to oversee user experience for products and features from conception to launch.
  • Cultivate a creative design process built on inclusion and cross-functional solid collaboration, and develop and maintain a consistent design system that creates speed and consistency across features.
  • Create compelling end-to-end solutions that attract new customers while mitigating change aversion for existing high-volume shippers.
  • Provide and seek feedback from others to always push the bar for quality.

Do you tick the boxes?

  • 7-10 years experience — with experience designing on high transaction volume workflow tools, with experience designing at every step of the development process, from brainstorming to post-launch research
  • Experience influencing PMs and engineers, earning trust, evangelizing design, educating your partners on the UX process, bringing them along, and advocating for users
  • Your design portfolio of products that showcases functionality, and clarity despite complexity, usability, and flow across an overall user experience
  • Demonstrable experience with the application of frameworks such as user-centered design methodology (especially user-centered analysis, information architecture, task-flow design, usability testing)
  • 3+ years of experience working in fast-paced environments, building and scaling SaaS products

Nice to haves:

  • Extensive experience working in or with e-commerce companies
  • Experience working on  logistics, fulfillment & e-commerce shipping products and services
