Staff Product Designer

Help shape how identity works across Reddit

Reddit is looking for a Staff Product Designer to work on Presence, the product area responsible for how people, creators, businesses, and communities represent themselves across the platform.

As Reddit expands into areas such as Shopping and Reddit Pro, the company needs a stronger foundation connecting profiles, identity, communities, and discovery. This role will help define what that system looks like rather than focusing on a single isolated feature.

It's a senior individual-contributor position for a designer who enjoys systems-level problems, product strategy, and complex consumer experiences.

What you'll work on

You'll operate across several product areas, helping teams create experiences that feel like parts of the same Reddit ecosystem.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Defining UX strategy and experience architecture for Presence.
• Designing foundational experiences around profiles, identity, community representation, and newer Reddit products.
• Taking loosely defined opportunities and turning them into clear product directions and scalable UX frameworks.
• Creating reusable interaction patterns that can work across different parts of Reddit.
• Using AI-assisted design and coding tools to build functional prototypes and explore ideas quickly.
• Partnering with Product, Engineering, Research, and Content Design on major product decisions.
• Working with senior leaders to establish priorities and navigate trade-offs.
• Improving interaction design, information architecture, and accessibility across the experience.
• Mentoring other designers and helping the team develop stronger systems-thinking and AI-assisted design practices.

What Reddit is looking for

This isn't simply a more experienced Product Designer position. Reddit wants someone capable of influencing how multiple teams approach a shared product problem.

Candidates should bring roughly 8–10+ years of product design experience, including substantial work on complex consumer technology products.

A strong fit will have:

• Experience designing platform-level systems or reusable product experiences.
• Excellent interaction design and information architecture skills.
• Strong product and strategic thinking.
• The ability to move between long-term vision and practical near-term execution.
• Experience influencing senior stakeholders and bringing multiple teams toward a common direction.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and storytelling skills.
• Experience incorporating AI-assisted design or coding tools into the prototyping process.

Your portfolio should demonstrate more than polished interfaces. Reddit is looking for evidence of Staff-level ownership, systems thinking, and measurable product or organizational impact.

Compensation

The US base salary range is $194,600–$272,400 USD, with the final offer depending on experience, skills, and other role-related factors.

The position is also eligible for equity through restricted stock units (RSUs) and comes with benefits including healthcare coverage, 401(k) with employer match, flexible vacation, parental leave, professional development support, and other employee programs.
