Stream is looking for an experienced Principal Product Designer to lead the design of their SDKs and developer tools. In this role, you’ll shape the user experience for Stream’s Activity Feeds, Chat, and Video APIs, which are integrated into thousands of applications worldwide.
This is a senior-level position where you’ll drive design strategy and execution, ensuring that developers and end-users benefit from an intuitive, high-quality experience.
Location
- Offices in Amsterdam (NL) and Boulder (US).
- Remote work is possible (preference for EU or US time zones).
- Occasional travel for team collaboration.
- Relocation and visa sponsorship available.
What You’ll Do
- Lead design for new features and improvements, from research and ideation to prototyping and UI design.
- Design the UX of Stream’s core products (chat, voice/video SDKs, dashboards, moderation tools, and public-facing site).
- Work closely with engineers and product managers on SDK features, onboarding flows, and other customer-facing improvements.
- Ensure consistency across all user touchpoints (product, website, documentation).
- Create clear UX copy and microcopy that helps users succeed.
- Drive design excellence by maintaining design systems and best practices.
- Mentor other designers and contribute to a collaborative design culture.
About You
- 7+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates work on developer-focused products (SDKs, APIs, or tools).
- Experience designing complex, technical products.
- Strong skills in UX design principles and design systems.
- Understanding of developer workflows and challenges.
- Proven ability to ship high-quality designs that achieve measurable results.
- Strong sense of ownership and commitment to user-centered design.
- Passion for simplifying complex technology.
