Help shape the next generation of entertainment experiences at Netflix
Netflix is looking for a Staff Product Designer to help define how members discover and engage with emerging forms of entertainment across the platform.
The role sits within New Content Experiences, an area exploring experiences beyond traditional on-demand film and television, including livestreams, podcasts, and casual entertainment.
This is a highly strategic individual-contributor role for an experienced designer who can move between big-picture product vision and detailed interaction design while influencing teams across the organization.
What you'll be working on
You'll help establish the experience direction for new forms of content while connecting work happening across multiple teams and initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Defining experience visions, frameworks, and actionable product directions from ambiguous problems.
- Designing discovery and engagement experiences across multiple platforms.
- Simplifying complex product challenges into clear, member-centered experiences.
- Partnering with Product, Engineering, Content, Marketing, Merchandising, and other teams.
- Identifying new product opportunities and influencing broader product strategy.
- Creating scalable systems, patterns, and approaches that can be reused beyond individual projects.
- Helping teams align around shared experience principles and long-term goals.
- Using strong visual storytelling to communicate product and experience visions.
- Facilitating collaborative sessions with stakeholders across different levels of the organization.
- Advocating for the needs of Netflix members around the world.
- Connecting insights and initiatives across teams to increase the broader impact of design.
Designing 0→1 entertainment experiences
A major part of this role is working in spaces where the final experience may not yet be clearly defined.
Netflix wants someone capable of entering an ambiguous product area, rapidly building context, identifying the important questions, and turning what they learn into a compelling direction.
You'll work on 0→1 initiatives, balancing immediate product opportunities with a longer-term vision for how new types of entertainment should fit into the overall Netflix experience.
The work also goes beyond individual screens. You'll be expected to identify patterns and frameworks that can scale across products and help other teams make better design decisions.
What they're looking for
You should bring 10+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products, with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional product thinking and execution.
Netflix is looking for:
- Deep UX and interaction design expertise.
- Exceptional visual craft and attention to detail.
- Experience designing discovery and engagement patterns across multiple UI platforms.
- A track record of successfully driving 0→1 product initiatives.
- Strong strategic product thinking.
- Experience creating systems, frameworks, and reusable design patterns.
- The ability to translate complex and unstructured problems into clear product direction.
- Experience influencing multiple teams without losing sight of the broader experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Confidence communicating with senior leaders and executives.
- Strong facilitation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience partnering with content, marketing, and merchandising teams.
- The ability to operate across several initiatives while balancing depth, breadth, and impact.
AI and emerging design workflows
Netflix also expects Staff-level designers to actively explore new tools, workflows, and AI technologies that can improve both individual design work and the effectiveness of the wider organization.
This isn't positioned as a specialist AI design role. Instead, AI fluency is increasingly treated as part of the toolkit expected from senior product designers operating at this level.
Compensation
The compensation range for this position is exceptionally high:
$460,000–$710,000 USD annually
Netflix generally uses an annual compensation model rather than traditional salary-plus-bonus packages. Employees can choose how much of their compensation they receive as salary versus stock options.
Final compensation depends on location, experience, skills, background, and market factors.
Benefits
Netflix provides a comprehensive package that includes:
- Health plans.
- Mental health support.
- 401(k) with employer match.
- Stock option program.
- Flexible time off for salaried employees.
- Disability programs.
- Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts.
- Family-forming benefits.
- Life and serious injury benefits.
- Paid leave programs.
Location
The role is based within UCAN, with Netflix indicating a preference for candidates located on the US East or West Coast.
The position also requires approximately monthly travel to meet with teams, stakeholders, and partners.
Netflix is an equal-opportunity employer and provides accommodations throughout the hiring process when required.
