Staff Product Designer

Facet is hiring a Staff Product Designer to rethink the internal software used by its financial planning, sales, support and investment teams.

This is a senior individual-contributor role for a designer who enjoys tackling complex workflows, information-dense interfaces and large-scale systems problems. You'll take ownership of internal product experiences from research and problem definition through prototyping, UI design and production.

AI is also an important part of the role. Facet wants a designer who can demonstrate how they use AI to improve their own design workflow and create more efficient experiences for end users.

What You'll Work On

Facet supports tens of thousands of members across the US, with internal teams relying on proprietary software to manage their daily work.

Your initial focus will be taking the lead on UX research for Facet's internal tools and helping redesign its core platform.

You'll work on challenges such as:

• Increasing the capacity of financial planners.
• Simplifying employee onboarding.
• Reducing friction across complex operational workflows.
• Consolidating fragmented tools and duplicate actions.
• Improving the economics and efficiency of internal operations.
• Creating interfaces employees can confidently rely on for automated tasks.

Over time, your influence will extend across other tools used throughout Facet's internal product ecosystem.

What You'll Do

As Staff Product Designer, you'll own the design process across complex web-based products.

You'll:

• Lead projects from problem framing through launch.
• Conduct research with financial planners and other internal teams.
• Map complex user journeys and operational workflows.
• Restructure legacy information architecture.
• Design clear mental models for complicated systems.
• Create wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity interfaces.
• Design information-dense UI for professional users.
• Simplify fragmented workflows across multiple internal products.
• Develop solutions for tasks including scheduling, notes, messaging and daily workflow management.
• Validate interaction patterns through continuous user research.
• Design transparent automation experiences that users can understand and trust.
• Collaborate closely with Product Management and Engineering.
• Make pragmatic decisions about when deeper UX exploration is necessary and when shipping a simpler solution creates more value.

AI & Product Design

Facet specifically wants candidates who can demonstrate how they actively integrate AI capabilities into their work.

That includes two sides of AI Product Design:

AI for the designer — using AI to improve speed, exploration and efficiency throughout the design process.

AI for the user — incorporating AI and automation into products in ways that genuinely improve workflows.

The role also requires thoughtful design around automation. Internal users need to understand what the system is doing and feel confident enough to rely on automated processes instead of returning to manual work.

What You'll Need

Facet is looking for an experienced Product Designer with:

• 7+ years of Product Design experience.
• A track record of shipping real software products.
• Experience designing data-heavy workflows, internal tools or specialist professional software.
• Strong information architecture and systems-thinking capabilities.
• Experience leading UX research and discovery.
• Strong user journey mapping skills.
• Experience taking work from prototypes through high-fidelity design and production.
• Demonstrable use of AI within your design practice and/or product experiences.
• Advanced Figma skills.
• Experience working with, maintaining and extending design systems.
• Confidence collaborating closely with Engineering and Product.
• The ability to work effectively within technical constraints.

Experience in financial planning, wealth management, investing or fintech would be particularly valuable.

Your Portfolio

An online portfolio is required.

Facet is specifically interested in seeing how you think through complicated systems, rather than portfolios built primarily around polished consumer-facing UI.

Strong case studies should demonstrate areas such as:

• Information architecture.
• Complex workflow design.
• Systems thinking.
• Research and discovery.
• Data-intensive interfaces.
• Design decisions and trade-offs.
• Shipped product outcomes.
• AI integration where relevant.

For this position, you'll primarily improve the technology used behind the scenes by the teams delivering those services.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range is:

$175,000–$200,000 + bonus
