Wander is hiring an experienced Staff Product Designer to help shape WanderOS, its operating platform for travel and property management businesses.
This is a senior individual-contributor role with significant strategic ownership. You'll work across complex areas including reservations, pricing, payments, guest communication, distribution and reporting — while helping define how AI agents interact with the people operating these businesses.
The position reports directly to Wander's CPO and works closely with Product, Engineering and the company's founder.
About Wander & WanderOS
Wander operates a marketplace for premium vacation homes and is building technology designed to modernize the infrastructure behind travel businesses.
WanderOS extends that technology to property managers, bringing several operational functions into one platform, including:
- Direct booking websites.
- Reservations and calendars.
- Guest communication.
- Pricing.
- Payments.
- Distribution.
- Reporting.
- AI-powered operational tools.
Wander is currently a Series B company preparing for its next stage of growth, with an emphasis on rapidly shipping new products and features.
What you'll be designing
As an L7 Staff Product Designer, you won't be responsible for a single feature or isolated product surface.
You'll help establish design direction across several major parts of WanderOS while taking ownership of some of its most complicated product problems.
Your work will include:
- Setting design strategy across multiple product areas.
- Simplifying complex operational workflows.
- Designing onboarding experiences for property operators.
- Improving calendars and reservation management.
- Working on pricing and financial interfaces.
- Designing guest communication experiences.
- Shaping payments and distribution workflows.
- Improving reporting and data-heavy interfaces.
- Prototyping and testing new concepts with real operators.
- Using qualitative research and quantitative data to guide decisions.
- Connecting design decisions to activation, adoption, retention and revenue.
The goal is to make sophisticated operational software feel fast and understandable for people who rely on it to run their businesses every day.
Designing AI agent experiences
One particularly interesting part of this position is Wander's use of AI agents inside WanderOS.
You'll help determine how these agents should behave within real operational workflows, including:
- Which tasks an AI agent can perform autonomously.
- When human supervision should be required.
- How users understand what an agent has done.
- How operators remain in control.
- How the product communicates uncertainty and system behavior.
- How trust is established and maintained over time.
Wander is therefore looking for someone interested not only in using AI as a design tool, but in designing products where AI itself becomes part of the user experience.
What they're looking for
This opening is specifically calibrated at Wander's L7 Staff Product Designer level.
Candidates should have approximately 10–13+ years of product design experience shipping software products.
Wander is particularly interested in experience with:
- B2B SaaS.
- Marketplaces.
- Fintech.
- Operational software.
- Complex product ecosystems.
- Data-heavy interfaces.
Your portfolio should demonstrate more than polished UI. Wander wants evidence of strategic judgment, systems thinking, product impact and excellent visual craft.
Product strategy & systems thinking
At Staff level, you'll be expected to understand how individual interactions connect to a much larger product and business system.
That means being able to move between:
Business strategy → user needs → product systems → workflows → interaction design → final UI
You should also be comfortable using experiments and quantitative product data to make decisions while recognizing when numbers aren't enough and direct user research is needed.
Wander values designers who can demonstrate the business outcomes behind their work rather than focusing exclusively on design deliverables.
Design systems
You'll take significant ownership of the WanderOS design system.
That includes helping define and scale:
- Components.
- Patterns.
- Design tokens.
- Interaction conventions.
- Documentation.
- Governance.
Wander wants someone who has previously built, scaled or substantially influenced a design system that was adopted across an organization.
The design system is treated as a product itself, helping teams maintain quality while shipping quickly.
Technical understanding & prototyping
Deep Figma expertise and experience with modern prototyping tools are expected.
Wander also values designers who understand how their work gets implemented technically.
Having built something in code — whether a prototype, side project or production product — is considered an advantage.
You'll be expected to prototype quickly, test ideas with real users and use those findings to move toward implementation rather than spending long periods debating concepts internally.
Leadership without management
This is a senior design leadership position, but leadership here doesn't simply mean managing people.
You'll influence product direction across teams, communicate design rationale to executives and engineers, and help improve the overall design practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Mentoring other designers.
- Leading design critiques.
- Identifying skill gaps.
- Improving design processes and tools.
- Raising the quality bar across the team.
- Helping the CPO determine how the design organization should scale.
Strong communication and storytelling skills are therefore essential.
Experience that could give you an advantage
Wander is particularly interested in candidates with experience in:
- AI-powered products.
- Agentic AI workflows.
- Travel technology.
- Hospitality.
- Vacation rentals.
- Property management.
- Operational SaaS.
- Dashboards and analytics.
- Pricing products.
- Calendars and scheduling.
- Financial products.
- Native mobile applications.
- Mobile-first web experiences.
Strengthen your AI product design skills
This role provides a good example of how AI is changing senior Product Design requirements. Wander isn't simply asking designers to use AI tools — the Staff Product Designer will help determine how autonomous AI agents behave, when humans supervise them and how users develop trust in their decisions.
Designlab's AI Product Design Certification is designed for experienced designers who want practical experience designing AI-powered products, prototyping AI experiences and incorporating AI into modern product workflows.
If designing agentic experiences is a gap in your current skill set, it could be relevant preparation for roles moving in this direction.

Compensation & benefits
The US base salary range for this L7 position is:
$210,000–$260,000 USD
Final compensation depends on experience and location. Canadian compensation is calibrated separately to local market rates.
Wander also offers:
- Equity ownership.
- Health coverage.
- Dental coverage.
- Vision coverage.
- Remote-first working.
The role is remote across the United States and Canada, with optional office access in Austin and San Francisco.
Application requirements
A design portfolio is required. Applications submitted without one will not be considered.
Candidates with around 7–8+ years of experience who aren't yet at the Staff-level scope described here may instead be better suited to Wander's separate L6 Senior Product Designer opening.
