Checkly is a DevTool SaaS company focused on helping developers monitor, test, and maintain the reliability of their applications—from development through to production. Their product brings together key tools like Playwright and OpenTelemetry to offer developers better visibility and control.

Checkly is remote-first, async-first, and designed for focused, independent work. The team values fast iteration, well-crafted UI, and thoughtful design systems. Thousands of teams, including those at LinkedIn, CrowdStrike, Vercel, and 1Password, rely on Checkly to keep their software running smoothly.

In 2024, the company raised $20M in Series B funding to accelerate product development and grow its international team.

The Opportunity
Checkly is looking for a Senior or Staff UX Designer to take the lead on shaping product experience across the platform. You’ll own the end-to-end design process—from defining user journeys to partnering closely with engineers on implementation. You'll report to the Chief Product Officer and collaborate with product managers, engineers, and customer-facing teams.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a low-meeting, async, remote environment, enjoys working across the product lifecycle, and is energized by solving design problems for a technical audience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Own and lead product design across Checkly’s platform
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure accurate, high-quality implementation
  • Develop and evolve the company’s design system in collaboration with engineering
  • Research user needs through direct input from support and customer success teams
  • Help shape the design direction of new features from initial concept to final release
  • Use prototyping to test and refine design ideas quickly
  • Balance design excellence with pragmatism and speed

What You’ll Need

  • Experience designing interfaces for data-rich applications (e.g. dashboards, charts, tables)
  • Solid knowledge of design systems and how to scale them effectively
  • Ability to prototype in Figma (and optionally code using HTML/CSS/JS)
  • Familiarity with using AI tools to speed up parts of the design process
  • A pragmatic mindset—you know when to polish and when to move on
  • Strong communication skills in English (spoken and written)
  • Comfort working independently in a remote, async team
  • Based within UTC-3 to UTC+3 time zones

Tools They Use

  • Figma (design)
  • Miro (ideation and collaboration)
  • Slack (asynchronous communication)
  • Notion (documentation)
  • Vue.js + Tailwind (frontend stack)
  • Vercel (deployments)
  • AI tools (Figma AI, Raycast, Claude, etc.)

Why Join Checkly

  • Transparent salaries based on a published pay structure
  • Fully remote and async-first work culture
  • Flexible hours (32–40 hours/week)
  • Stock options
  • 27 vacation days + local public holidays
  • Paid sick leave
  • Up to 14 weeks paid parental leave
  • €1,500 annual budget for learning, wellness, or conferences
  • Coworking or home office setup budget
  • Company retreats twice a year
  • Open access to their employee handbook and hiring process
