OpenTrain AI is looking for Tamil music specialists to help evaluate music and lyrics produced by generative AI systems.
This project combines music knowledge, Tamil language expertise and human evaluation. You'll listen to AI-generated material, review lyrics and assess whether the results are original, natural, culturally appropriate and consistent with the instructions given to the AI.
The opportunity is fully remote and available to qualified applicants worldwide, with an expected commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
What You'll Do
Your evaluations will provide human feedback that can be used to assess and improve generative music systems.
The work includes:
- Reviewing music and lyrics generated by AI models.
- Rating Tamil lyrics for quality, creativity and originality.
- Checking whether outputs accurately follow the original prompt.
- Evaluating whether language sounds natural to Tamil speakers.
- Assessing slang, vocabulary and regional expressions.
- Considering whether lyrics fit the expected musical genre and cultural context.
- Comparing generated lyrics with existing published music to detect meaningful similarities.
- Applying detailed evaluation guidelines consistently across different outputs.
- Listening critically to audio using appropriate headphones or studio monitors.
- Providing careful judgments that help measure the quality of generative music models.
What They're Looking For
This role requires strong knowledge of both Tamil language and music.
Candidates should have:
- Native or near-native Tamil proficiency.
- Strong understanding of natural Tamil usage, including slang and regional expressions.
- Knowledge of contemporary Tamil music, artists, genres and sub-genres.
- Professional or substantial experience as a songwriter, lyricist, musician, composer, performer or music journalist.
- The ability to evaluate lyrics for creativity, originality and overall quality.
- Good judgment when identifying similarities between generated and existing lyrics.
- Strong enough English to understand and consistently apply detailed project instructions.
- Headphones or studio monitors suitable for critical listening.
Helpful Experience
Formal musical education isn't listed as a requirement, but experience in areas such as music theory, composition or performance training can strengthen a candidate's profile.
Published or credited songwriting experience and particularly broad knowledge of the contemporary Tamil music scene are also valuable.
Do You Need Previous AI Experience?
No previous AI experience is specified as a requirement.
The project primarily needs people who can bring human expertise in Tamil language, music and cultural context to the evaluation of AI-generated content.
This makes it another example of how professionals from non-technical fields can apply their existing expertise to emerging AI-training work.
Compensation & Work Arrangement
Pay: $15–$19 USD/hour
Employment type: Part-Time Contract
Minimum availability: 20+ hours/week
Location: Worldwide
Work arrangement: 100% remote
Experience level: Entry
Languages: Tamil + English
Field: AI Training / Audio & Speech
Who Can Apply?
The opportunity is listed as worldwide, so applicants aren't restricted to a specific country.
What matters more is having the required Tamil proficiency and relevant knowledge or experience within music.
Why This AI Role Is Different
Generative music systems need more than automated measurements to determine whether a song actually works.
Human evaluators can recognize cultural nuance, unnatural wording, genre conventions, originality and subtle similarities to existing music that automated systems may struggle to assess reliably.
For someone already immersed in Tamil music, this project offers a way to turn that specialist knowledge into practical experience working with generative AI evaluation.
