About the UI/UX Designer Role

This remote UI/UX Designer role is an opportunity to help shape the future of AI-powered products. At Nous Research, you'll design intuitive experiences for Hermes Agent and Nous Portal, creating interfaces that make advanced AI workflows simple, efficient, and accessible.

Working closely with Product, Engineering, Research, and Marketing teams, you'll help define how users interact with AI agents across web, desktop, mobile, and terminal environments while contributing to the visual identity of one of the leading organizations in open-source AI.

What You'll Do

• Design end-to-end user experiences across web, desktop, mobile, and terminal applications.
• Create intuitive interaction patterns for AI agents, including multi-step workflows, tool usage, and human-in-the-loop experiences.
• Develop user flows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs.
• Build and maintain scalable design systems, reusable components, and interaction patterns.
• Collaborate closely with Product Managers and Engineers to deliver polished, high-quality user experiences.
• Conduct user research and usability testing, using qualitative and quantitative insights to improve the product.
• Contribute to branding, visual identity, and product experiences across multiple platforms.
• Help establish design principles and best practices for AI-native interfaces.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in UI/UX Design or Product Design.
• Strong portfolio showcasing shipped consumer, enterprise, or developer products.
• Expertise in interaction design, visual design, typography, layout, and information architecture.
• Advanced proficiency with Figma and interactive prototyping tools.
• Experience collaborating closely with engineers throughout the product development process.
• Strong product thinking and the ability to solve complex UX challenges.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing AI products, AI agents, LLM applications, or developer tools.
• Familiarity with terminal, desktop, browser extension, or multi-platform application design.
• Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, or interactive prototyping.
• Background in design systems, branding, or visual identity.
• Interest in open-source software and developer-focused products.
• Passion for creating intuitive human-AI interactions.
