Portland Webworks is looking for a UX Developer to bridge the gap between design and development, transforming user-centered concepts into accessible, high-quality digital experiences.

In this fully remote role, you'll work alongside UX designers, developers, QA engineers, and project managers to build modern web applications that serve millions of users. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals who enjoy combining front-end development with usability, accessibility, and design systems.

What You'll Do

  • Transform UX designs into responsive, production-ready interfaces.
  • Build accessible, reusable, and maintainable front-end components.
  • Collaborate with designers, developers, and product teams throughout the development process.
  • Develop modern web applications using contemporary front-end frameworks.
  • Ensure consistency across interfaces while following accessibility standards and industry best practices.
  • Break complex product requirements into manageable development tasks.
  • Contribute to improving UI quality, performance, and scalability.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate within cross-functional teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with at least one modern framework such as React, Next.js, Angular, React Native, or Drupal.
  • Familiarity with TypeScript and modern front-end tooling.
  • Experience with CSS frameworks such as Tailwind CSS or Bootstrap.
  • Knowledge of CSS preprocessors including Sass or LESS.
  • Understanding of reusable UI components and design systems.
  • Strong attention to accessibility and usability.
  • Experience working in Agile environments.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Material UI, Ant Design, or similar component libraries.
  • Knowledge of Webpack or modern build tools.
  • Experience with Progressive Web Apps (PWAs).
  • A/B testing or data-driven product optimisation.
  • Previous experience building applications for the public sector.
