WebstaurantStore is seeking a UX Product Design Intern for Summer 2027 to gain practical experience designing digital products for a major ecommerce business.

This remote internship offers students the opportunity to contribute to real UX/UI projects while learning how product design teams collaborate across a large organization.

Rather than focusing on a single product, interns will rotate between teams working on WebstaurantStore's website, mobile application, and TheRestaurantStore.com. This provides exposure to different design challenges, workflows, and approaches to building digital experiences.

You'll work alongside experienced designers, product managers, and engineers, developing practical skills in user research, wireframing, prototyping, interface design, and design systems.

With mentorship, regular feedback, and hands-on project experience, this internship offers an opportunity to build your portfolio and gain insight into professional UX and product design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing user-friendly experiences for ecommerce websites and digital applications.
  • Create wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished user interface designs.
  • Participate in design reviews and apply feedback to improve proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand user needs, business requirements, and technical limitations.
  • Support user research activities and usability testing.
  • Translate research findings into practical design improvements.
  • Work with established design systems, reusable components, and interface patterns.
  • Contribute to projects across multiple product design teams.
  • Learn how UX decisions influence customer satisfaction and business performance.
  • Develop professional design skills through mentorship and collaboration.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or related educational program.
  • A portfolio or examples of previous design work. Applicants must provide a portfolio link or attach a PDF.
  • Familiarity with Figma or a similar interface design tool.
  • Interest in UX design, UI design, digital products, and ecommerce experiences.
  • Ability to communicate ideas clearly and collaborate with different teams.
  • Willingness to learn new tools, workflows, and design processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in creating effective digital experiences.

A completed degree is not required. WebstaurantStore emphasizes relevant skills, demonstrated potential, and alignment with its company values.

Ideal Candidate

WebstaurantStore is particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate:

  • Curiosity about how design decisions affect customers and business results.
  • Enthusiasm for learning from experienced designers and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Openness to constructive feedback and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility when working across different teams and projects.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Attention to visual quality, usability, and interaction details.
  • Motivation to develop a professional career in UX and product design.
