About LMI
LMI is a consultancy with over 60 years of federal experience, now focused on delivering innovative RFID solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense. Our mission? Accelerate progress, drive mission success, and solve complex integration challenges using cutting-edge tech.
The Opportunity
We’re hiring a UX/UI Designer to lead the design of our RFID mobile and desktop experiences. You’ll work on tools used in military field operations — building intuitive, fast, and accessible UIs for Windows and rugged Android devices (e.g. Zebra). You’ll collaborate with product owners, engineers, and end-users to create designs that work in real-world conditions — not just in theory.
What You’ll Do
- Design user flows, wireframes, and polished UIs for Android apps and Windows interfaces
- Collaborate with product teams to gather user feedback and field insights
- Craft responsive layouts, prototypes, and interaction patterns for rugged environments
- Maintain alignment with the broader design system and UX strategy
- Conduct usability testing and iterate based on feedback from real users
- Support devs throughout implementation to ensure design consistency
- Help evolve our mobile design standards and documentation
Who You Are
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI or product design
- Portfolio showcasing mobile design work (field tech, enterprise, or rugged apps a plus)
- Proficient in Figma, Adobe CC, and prototyping tools
- Strong in accessibility, visual hierarchy, and layout systems
- Excellent communicator, comfortable working with engineers and PMs
- Familiar with 508 compliance and secure environments
- U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a Secret clearance (preferred: active Secret or TS)
Bonus Points
- Experience designing for rugged Android devices like Zebra handhelds
- Experience with RFID, IoT, or asset-tracking systems
- Familiarity with DoD or government environments
- Comfort working in Agile product teams
- Hands-on experience with user research
