UX/UI Developer

Mobomo is looking for a UX/UI Developer who can operate comfortably on both sides of the traditional design-development handoff.

You'll move from user flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes to production-ready React interfaces, while helping architect a complex micro-frontend environment designed to scale across multiple applications.

It's a particularly technical UX/UI role for someone who doesn't want their involvement to end when a Figma prototype is approved.

From Figma to production React

You'll collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate complex workflows into clear user experiences.

Depending on what helps the team move fastest, you might explore an idea through Figma wireframes or prototype it directly in React.

From there, you'll take ownership of the front-end implementation, developing reusable components and ensuring the experience remains responsive, accessible and performant across desktop, tablet and mobile.

Your work will include:

• Creating user flows, wireframes and high-fidelity interactive prototypes.
• Prototyping in Figma and directly in React.
• Building reusable React components and front-end libraries.
• Translating UX concepts into production interfaces.
• Creating responsive experiences across different screen sizes.
• Managing complex application state with Redux or Context API.
• Debugging front-end issues and improving performance.
• Writing unit and integration tests with Jest and React Testing Library.
• Working with stakeholders throughout the design and development lifecycle.

This goes well beyond traditional UX/UI

Mobomo needs someone with deep front-end engineering knowledge.

You'll need expert-level understanding of React.js, including JSX, hooks, component lifecycles and the Virtual DOM, alongside advanced HTML5, CSS3 and modern JavaScript.

The role also requires solid visual and UX fundamentals, including user-centered design, typography and colour theory.

But the biggest technical differentiator is the architecture underneath the interface.

Build experiences across a micro-frontend architecture

Rather than treating the product as one large front-end application, you'll work with multiple independently managed micro-frontends (MFEs).

Mobomo is specifically looking for experience with single-spa and the architectural challenges that come with independently developed applications still needing to behave like one coherent product.

You'll work on areas including:

• Communication between separate micro-frontends.
• Shared application state.
• Utility modules and custom browser events.
• Independent deployment pipelines.
• Import maps and version management.
• Lazy loading.
• Shared dependency optimization.
• Preventing unnecessary duplicate library downloads.

You'll also help establish a shared design system and global theme, creating visual consistency even when individual parts of the experience are technically decoupled.

That combination of design-system thinking and front-end architecture is central to the position.

Designing and building are increasingly becoming the same workflow

This role is a strong example of how the boundary between Product Design and front-end development can disappear.

Mobomo explicitly wants someone capable of moving from Figma → prototype → React → production, rather than treating those as completely separate disciplines.

Technical skills you'll need

The core stack for this position includes:

• React.js.
• JSX and React Hooks.
• HTML5.
• CSS3, including Flexbox and Grid.
• Modern JavaScript / ES6+.
• Redux or Context API.
• single-spa.
• Jest.
• React Testing Library.
• Micro-frontend architecture.
• CI/CD workflows.

You'll also need enough UX/UI knowledge to make informed decisions around interaction, usability, typography, colour and visual consistency rather than simply implementing someone else's specifications.

Backend and cloud experience is a plus

Mobomo would also value candidates who can move beyond the browser when necessary.

Useful additional experience includes Node.js and Express, particularly for building server-side applications and REST or GraphQL APIs.

AWS knowledge could also strengthen your application, including experience with:

• S3.
• CloudFront.
• Lambda.
• API Gateway.
• AWS CodePipeline.

Experience with GitHub Actions and databases such as DynamoDB or PostgreSQL is another advantage.

These aren't presented as the core of the role, but they could make you a stronger fit for a team working across the broader application lifecycle.

Can you simplify the architecture as well as the interface?

Mobomo isn't only looking for someone who can work inside an existing system.

They want someone who notices where that system could be better.

That could mean identifying improvements independently, managing development tickets or consolidating fragmented approaches — for example, replacing a mixture of MUI, Bootstrap and Styled Components with a more coherent set of reusable components.

You'll need to be comfortable taking ownership, moving between competing priorities and adapting when project requirements change.

Government eligibility requirements

There are two important requirements candidates should check before applying:

• You must be a US citizen.
• You must be able to obtain a US Government Public Trust clearance.

Candidates with an active or recent ICE or CBP clearance are preferred.
