OpenTrain AI is hiring a Visual Content Curation & Evaluation Expert to bring human creative judgment into the development of AI systems.
You'll review collections of images and decide which examples demonstrate particularly strong visual quality, looking closely at elements such as composition, lighting, color, styling, originality and technical execution.
Rather than creating designs for a traditional product or marketing team, you'll use your visual expertise to evaluate and curate the material used in AI training.
The opportunity is fully remote, open worldwide and pays $21–$70 per hour, with an expected commitment of at least 20 hours per week.
Where Your Creative Eye Comes In
Some aspects of visual quality can't be assessed effectively without human judgment.
You'll examine imagery across different styles and formats, identify the strongest examples and articulate what makes them successful.
That could mean recognizing excellent composition, spotting particularly effective lighting, assessing whether an image feels original or evaluating how successfully color and styling work together.
Your evaluations will ultimately contribute to datasets designed to represent a broad range of high-quality visual aesthetics.
What You'll Be Working On
As part of the project, you'll:
- Curate and evaluate collections of visual content.
- Select images that demonstrate outstanding aesthetic or creative qualities.
- Assess composition, lighting, color and styling.
- Evaluate originality and overall artistic execution.
- Identify technical strengths and weaknesses in imagery.
- Write thoughtful explanations supporting your selections.
- Provide constructive critiques when visual work falls short.
- Work with project trainers and other visual specialists to align evaluation standards.
- Apply consistent judgment across different visual genres and formats.
- Help improve the quality of datasets used to train AI systems.
Who OpenTrain Is Looking For
This role could suit creatives from several disciplines. Relevant experience may come from Graphic Design, Brand Design, Photography, Illustration, Art Direction, Visual Curation or another field where evaluating visual quality is an important part of the work.
You'll need to demonstrate a strong creative eye, but equally important is your ability to explain your decisions.
OpenTrain is looking for someone who can identify why an image works rather than simply deciding whether they like it.
What You'll Need
You should bring:
- Strong visual and aesthetic judgment.
- Experience creating or critically evaluating visual work.
- A solid understanding of composition.
- Knowledge of color, lighting and styling.
- The ability to assess originality and technical execution.
- A portfolio or comparable body of work demonstrating your visual standards.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- The ability to turn visual observations into useful written feedback.
- Awareness of current visual trends and emerging aesthetics.
- Familiarity with cultural references relevant to design, photography or visual culture.
- The ability to work independently and meet project requirements remotely.
A Different Way to Work With AI
You don't need to be an AI engineer for this opportunity.
The value you bring is human visual judgment.
AI systems depend on people to evaluate examples, identify quality and establish standards that training data alone can't determine. In this project, your creative background becomes part of that evaluation process.
For designers, photographers and other visual professionals, that makes the role an interesting way to gain exposure to AI training while continuing to use existing creative skills.
Remote Contract Details
The project is open to candidates worldwide and is completed entirely remotely.
Pay: $21–$70/hour
Commitment: 20+ hours/week
Employment: Contractor / Part-time
Location: Worldwide
Language: English
Experience: Entry level
