This job is curated by UX Remote Talent from external sources. We are not affiliated with the employer.

OpenTrain AI is looking for Visual Creative Experts to apply their professional eye for design, photography and visual culture to the development of next-generation AI systems.

This remote project focuses on reviewing, evaluating and curating visual content used for AI training. You'll judge images based on qualities such as composition, lighting, color, originality and overall creative impact, then clearly explain the reasoning behind your decisions.

Previous AI experience isn't required. The key qualification is genuine professional expertise in areas such as Graphic Design, Brand Design, Photography, Illustration or Art Direction.

What You'll Do

You'll use your visual expertise to review collections of images and determine which examples meet the project's creative and quality standards.

Your work will include:

  • Review and curate collections of visual content.
  • Evaluate images for aesthetic and technical quality.
  • Assess composition, lighting, color, styling and visual impact.
  • Identify particularly strong, distinctive or original creative work.
  • Explain the reasoning behind your selections and critiques.
  • Provide detailed and constructive written feedback.
  • Apply consistent evaluation criteria across different styles and formats.
  • Collaborate with trainers and other visual specialists to establish shared quality standards.
  • Adapt to evolving project guidelines and requirements.
  • Help develop diverse, high-quality datasets for AI training.

Who They're Looking For

OpenTrain is interested in creative professionals who have developed a strong visual eye through real-world work.

Relevant backgrounds include:

  • Graphic Design.
  • Brand Design.
  • Photography.
  • Illustration.
  • Art Direction.
  • Visual Curation.
  • Other professional visual arts disciplines.

A strong portfolio or professional track record should demonstrate both creative ability and the capacity to recognize what makes visual work effective.

What You'll Need

Successful candidates should bring:

  • Professional expertise in visual design, visual arts or photography.
  • Strong visual evaluation skills.
  • Experience creating, reviewing or selecting professional visual content.
  • A sophisticated understanding of composition, lighting, color and aesthetics.
  • The ability to recognize originality and strong technical execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • The ability to explain creative judgments clearly and constructively.
  • Awareness of visual trends, cultural references and emerging aesthetics.
  • Attention to detail and consistency.
  • The ability to work independently and reliably in a remote environment.
  • Fluent English.

No Previous AI Experience Required

You don't need previous AI-training experience for this opportunity.

Instead, OpenTrain is looking for the professional visual judgment that photographers, designers, illustrators and art directors develop through their existing work.

You'll apply that expertise in a new context: helping AI systems learn from human judgments about visual quality, aesthetics and creative intent.

That makes the project particularly relevant for creatives interested in gaining practical exposure to the intersection of visual design and artificial intelligence.

Location & Eligibility

This is a remote opportunity, but applicants must be based in one of these nine countries:

United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany or India.

Fluent English is required.

Schedule & Compensation

The project is structured as a flexible part-time contractor engagement.

Compensation: $21–$70/hour
Hours: Under 20 hours/week
Expected duration: 3–6 months
Experience level: Intermediate
Working language: English
